In this iconic image, Hanuman is shown carrying the herb-bearing mountain, showing his devotion and strength despite all odds. During battle, his brother has been severely wounded and can only be healed with a special herb. Hanuman gets to the Himalayan mountain where this special herb is to be found, but can't remember which herb to bring. What to do . . . He picks up the entire mountain and carries it across India to try to save his brother. His immense strength and devotion helps his brother recover from his wound. This legend is the popular basis for the iconography shown in the image pictured here.
