On Wednesday, November 12th, I was in line at the cashier, waiting to pay for my single item. This was at a large, nation wide store.
The customer in front of me had a cart with 4 bags of potting soil. He mentioned, while waiting for the cashier, the price was fantastic...4 bags for 10.00. The problem was, the register was not giving the cashier the "per bag" price, which she needed to complete the sale. She attempted to calculate the math with a cell phone and abandoned the effort. The nearest store employee was on the phone, so she made a huff and a face, that we might have to wait for this man to finish his call, for the math issue to be resolved. A young woman stocking shelves got involved and a committee seemed to form and then a male worker stepped in but quickly admitted he was not a math guy. Minutes passed before the committee agreed that the price of each bag should be entered into the register at 2.50.
