We found "Mac" in my gf's mom's backyard. He was barely 4 weeks old, crying and scared. Mac had an eye infection and an upper respiratory infection. As if that wasn't enough, he was skin and bones! So my gf (an animal lover and a long time foster) waited patiently for 2-3 hours, periodically offering food and water, but mom was gone! So that settled it. Mac was gonna be nursed back to health and ready for his new forever home!
She fed (and loved on) Mac all through that first night. She comforted him. Then first thing the next morning it was straight to the vet. Mac (thankfully) had no flees. We got his eye cream (then later drops), and antibiotics for his upper respiratory thing. Through weeks of patient care, love, warmth and effort, Mac started to come around. At first he had to be fed by hand and bottle, but quickly transitioned to solid foods. He took to his litter box right away but still to be coaxed to eat from his bowl.
Fast-forward to week-3 and Mac is a new kitten! His eye has completely cleared up. No more respiratory issues. Mac is playful as a dozen kittens! He eats from his bowl with no issue. Has put on a healthy amount of weight and is well on his way to a life of love and adventure!
Needless to say, we LOVE MAC very much, but my gf always has 4 animals to care for (and a full time job, caring for people!). She is a special kind of person and her calling is fostering animals in need. So that brings me to the point of this post -- We want to find Mac his forever home!
Mac has been reared with a LOT of love and socializing. He is the sweetest, most gentle, affectionate kitten. His life has started with a lot of bumps so we want to make sure he's got loving people and blue skies ahead. We're looking for a person/home who is dedicated to their pets -- understanding they are important family members! So ideally you have the time to spend, and the patience to interact with an adventurous kitten.
Mac will need to have a vet -- just in case, so you'll need that set up as well. t. There is no fee, but we'd like you to come by and meet mac (and us) before we make a decision. If approved, you'll l need have a carrier (we're sending him to his new home with toys) and a lot of love and availability, especially in the first days. We trust you (and our judgement) but we still require at least 2 personal references and an adoption contract.
If you think its gonna be you + Mac from here on out, please email and tell us about yourself and your home situation. If you have any other pets we are going to require a meet and greet before we approve the adoption. We've put a TON of effort into ensuring Mac has a great life, but know this -- Mac is such a giver! He has such amazing energy. He does the funniest, cutest things! Mac will bring years of joy his person. Our job is to find his match!
