"Kathy's Walk" was inspired by Pat's good friend, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and who would take this path to the beach daily to walk
Pat Williams, 1931 – 2017. She attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia, focusing on drawing, painting and design. With the exception of numerous workshops, she was mostly a self-taught artist. Williams moved to Nags Head, North Carolina and painted full-time. Her love for the Outer Banks developed the desire to capture, on canvas, the ambiance of the natural beauty of the area that seems to be quickly disappearing. Due to the wind, sand and elements, Pat liked to study a subject in various lights at different times of the day.
“In my paintings, I try to present the unique appeal of the Outer Banks- the solitary beaches, the ever-changing ocean, the light on the dunes,” said Williams. “These are the things that have always brought people here, and create many of the memories they take home with them.”
