Position Overview
A leading Long Island law firm is seeking a Legal Billing Clerk to support its billing operations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, accuracy with numbers, and the ability to manage billing across multiple platforms in a high-volume insurance defense environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process and manage billing for 50+ outside client billing systems, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
Handle high-volume invoices in a fast-paced insurance defense practice.
Organize, track, and file billing documentation within the firm’s internal online system.
Follow up with timekeepers and attorneys to resolve missing time entries or discrepancies.
Manage partner reviews and coordinate compliance requirements.
Support the Billing Lead in compliance checks to meet client guidelines.
Qualifications
1+ year of billing or accounting experience in a law firm or professional services environment (insurance defense billing experience a plus).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume, detail-heavy tasks.
Familiarity with legal billing systems, eBilling portals, or other financial platforms. (SharePoint experience is a plus)
Strong math skills and accuracy with invoices, rates, and adjustments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for attorney and client follow-ups.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related), Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience acceptable.

Strong communicator: email follow-ups, partner coordination, timekeeper requests.

Prior insurance defense billing experience.
