This is an absolutely exquisite 19th century oil painting professional reproduction of Raphael's Madonna & Child with St John. It comes with its original elaborate and hand carved wooden frame gilded in 24K gold leaf. This painting most likely dates from 1874. The painting was executed in oil on linen with wooden stretcher bars and tacks. The painting has typical hairline vertical and horizontal cracks and some mild flaking and one small tear but nothing major or serious. Its condition is consistent with any typical painting of the same age and time period. The frame is very large and has some damage but nothing a little care can't take care of. This is nothing any restoration artist could not easily repair. Three pieces of the frame have become detached but fit back easily as you can see in one of the photographs. One section of the wooden horizontal leafing decoration is missing but a replacement piece can either be molded or cast from the existing frame, hand carved, or 3D scanned and printed. If the buyer purchases this painting and frame I will personally offer to have the missing section digitally 3D scanned and give the digital file to the buyer at no additional cost to have the missing part 3D printed or CNC from wood.. This is a one of a kind piece and the 19th century artist was a true master with a quality and craftsmanship that is unsurpassed, a true classical realistic master artist. You will never come across another version of this painting with this one of a kind frame ever again. I am a third generation professional art restorationist myself as were my father and grandfather before me. This amazing piece has been in my family's private collection for many decades in storage. I will be moving within the year or so which is why I am selling off many items from my family collection. I hate to have to sell such a treasured family heirloom but I want it to go to someone or someplace where it can be properly displayed and appreciated. My hope is that it will be truly appreciated for its unique and tremendous beauty.
