Jærhøns are the only indigenous chicken breed from Norway, known for being hardy, active, and good layers of large white eggs. This small breed is also autosexing, meaning chicks can be sexed by color at birth: light chicks have a brown stripe down their back, while dark chicks have a yellow head spot. They are excellent foragers and can be escape artists, so they need secure runs.
