Assistant Caretaker (live-out)
This is a live-out position in the sophisticated Greenwich, CT in a beautiful estate. Work hours are Monday - Friday 8 am - 430 pm with Saturday and Sunday off. Paid holidays.
General Job Description:
Grounds responsibilities include maintaining vehicles, landscaping, pool maintenance, and operating heavy machinery. Main house duties include checking on furnace, water pipes, running taps, emptying water from dehumidifier daily, and garbage removal.
Required skills also include a handyman’s knowledge of light repairs, carpentry, electrical and plumbing. There is occasional driving of the employer to downtown Greenwich and to her residence in Manhattan, thus a general knowledge of these areas is useful. Must have a reliable vehicle and live within an hour of the principal’s residence.
Salary is 80 - 90k based on experience.
Details - Main house:
Walk through daily to check furnace, water pipes, run taps, flush toilets
Maintain outside grounds:
Mow lawn (approximately 30 acres)
Trim hedges, rhododendron, flower beds, weeding
Driveway and fences
Tennis court
Vegetable and herb garden, apple peach and pear orchard
Collect mail from the mailbox daily
Basement: empty water from dehumidifier daily
Walk through daily to check on furnace, water pipes, run taps, flush toilets
Outside grounds:
Mow lawn (approximately 3 acres)
Flower beds, weeding
Driveway
Sand on the beach
Removal of garbage from main house twice daily
Acquire outside contractor bids for repair/work to be performed
Coordinate and supervise outside contractors
Schedule propane delivery
Prepare monthly expense reports with receipts
Weekly dam reading and photos
Seasonal responsibilities:
Leaf and snow removal at main house and boathouse
Purchase of all annuals and perennials for flower boxes
Storing and setting up of all potted plants and pot-fed trees on terrace
Storing and setting up outdoor furniture at main house terrace, pool and tennis court
Awning on terrace set up for summer and taken down for winter
Cabana change room and towel cover to be put on at the pool area
Tennis net and Adirondack chairs set up for summer and then stored in winter
Pool opened and closed (schedule with pool service company)
Boathouse opened and closed
