12m Yacht Development Foundation (12mYDF) in Greenwich, CT has been operating since 2006 as a Tax Exempt 501c3 Public Foundation and Philanthropy whose charitable mission is to “Acquire, restore and preserve historic America’s Cup Class vessel’s and to preserve their match racing heritage” important to the maritime history of the United States and the continued preservation of the longest event in sports -since 1851 -the America’s Cup!
12mYDF regularly receives Donated Vessels from its patrons in support of its mission from notable provider’s like O’DAY, CAL, SABRE, et al and is looking for Tax Exempt Patron Caretakers!
In many cases, particularly for sail and power boats 7+ years in age, owners may generate as much as 3-4X more cash by donating their vessel to our foundation , versus selling for cash where older boat prices fluctuate wildly and often sell for substantially less than their true value!
12mYDF works with top surveyors to assess the boat’s condition and true value, and our foundation can give the owner a completed IRS Form 8283 , allowing the owner to reduce taxes, which may be substantially more than current cash value given market conditions!
