The mahogany wood used is extinct highly figured swirl or crotch grain mahogany cut in the West Indies, probably in Santo Domingo.
This is a large scale, dramatic console which could be used in modern or traditional interiors. The marble top is original, and has no cracks or damage, which is highly unusual and desireable. Original casters. The later mirror panel is in excellent, clear, condition. This is great for a foyer, dining room or living room.
This is a very fine antique, dramatic console table, made for a wealthy clientele, and is almost 200 years old.
