This is a ... "If I had only one mic"... custom Neumann U47 FET clone ...kind of. I had a friend who was a Tech who built a dozen mics years ago for my multi-platinum production team before he passed away. There's no matched pairs. They are all unique, well done experiments. I financed his exploration, and he gave me the best outcomes.
To my ears this particular mic sounds better on most material than a Neumann U47 FET as well, head to head with a U87ai (I prefer both for different tasks), and it absolutely eats TLM 103's. It is more open sounding with a hint of vintage character. There is an instantly noticeable clarity with a more refined top that the TLM 103 lacks when tested side by side, plus this mic takes processing (EQ/Compression) extremely well, and doesn't turn to mush like the U87ai does when you lay stacks. The bottom is tight, mids are clear, and the highs are sheeny/classy. It sounds bigger than life with guts, balanced, Slays on Vocals and leaves a warm fuzzy feeling in your belly. Magic on Drum overheads, Huge on Kick Drum/Bass, Adds Sexy to Sax, and sparkles on Guitar!
I have a few of these which is too much for my current bedroom setup so I'm looking for cash. Price is negotiable, and I will consider a trade for a basic Eurorack setup. (Power supply, filter, lfo, envelope), analog synths (no romplers), API 5 series modules, an electric bass, or some juicy vintage rack, or tube gear (compressors, preamps, EQ's etc). I don't mind traveling and can demo the mic at your place against whatever you want to A/B against.
