Hi - I have a large bedroom available in my two bedroom apartment. I'm a male in his 40's and I've had both male and female roommates and am comfortable with either. The room is furnished with a clean, queen sized bed, night stand, desk, desk chair & dresser. There are two full sized windows with shades which overlook a clean, mostly quiet and unused courtyard.
Currently this is a month to month offer beginning October 1st and we would assess the future status with a roommate around the 3 month mark. The rent is $875 per month which includes utilities and WiFi. (*note, I have had roommates who have used excessive amounts of electricity which would be an added charge which we can discuss if you're interested) and there is a security deposit of one month's rent ($875) required.
I'm a professional traveling musician and I spend part of my time out on the road, so whoever takes the room will occasionally have the space to themselves for extended periods of time.
I'm seeking a conscientious, clean, employed, pet-free roommate who knows how to be in an easy roommate dynamic. If you are remotely employed and work from home, we'd want to discuss this in advance. (A note about cleaning: I don't use a maid service, so if you are interested in the room, and you typically share in cleaning and maintaining the common spaces regularly, this will work great! If not, it won't work)
This is a non-smoking, no-pet apartment. I currently drink very little hard alcohol in the apartment and I am looking for a similar vibe (a beer or two, a glass of wine or two seems reasonable to me). I am frequently busy with the admin of my own life when I am at home, so I'll usually prefer that my roommate limits guests during this time. I don't have guests often, but now and then I'll host someone for dinner, or to hang out. There is no television in the living room, by choice, fyi.
The bedroom is spacious (queen bed, as mentioned, fits easily with the provided desk and dresser and there is plenty of room to move around. The room also has a decent sized closet. There is a small window unit a/c which is stored in the bedroom closet for use if need be in summer months (see my note about electricity usage above).
Whoever takes the room will need to be able to make do with the space provided in the room. The apartment cannot accommodate additional furniture or appliances. There are rental storage spaces nearby with small rooms available if you have more than you can fit, which is what I do with my extra things.
The bathroom in this apartment is nice, but it is small and there is limited space for bathroom items. I use the bare minimum, so I can forgo some of the space to whoever moves in, but if you need alot of space for things in a bathroom, this isn't a good match.
The building is located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and is equally distanced from the Kingston and Utica/Crown Heights subway stops. There are food markets in the area. There are some, but not alot of restaurants close by. The block is tree-lined, often quiet and typically very safe for both men and women. This is primarily a Jewish and Caribbean neighborhood. I am Jewish (non-religious).
