I am an experienced violinist looking for an experienced musician (guitar or piano…) to form a duo with and look for regular gigs at cafes or play events.
I am 39 y.o. man, classically trained, and love playing a wide range of jazz violin as well as other styles, (autumn leaves, yardbird suite, Hoagie Carmichael, cissy strut, Bach, choros, old time music, country etc.)
Ideally we would learn from each other and suggest new songs to learn.
(I don’t play very technical jazz solos - my favorite jazz violinist is Joe Venuti, (check out “Never before….Never again” with Tony Romano!) I often favor a groove and simple melodies over complex modern solos)
As far as promotion, ideally we could find a regular gig that pays ok, and play for parties when people ask - I’m open to taking pictures and videos for clients as necessary and working on nice recordings, but not interested in focusing making a website or anything right away.
We would want to hit the ground running and look for gigs, we could meet up and play/ then busk in a park on a sunny day (or subway station) to see how it goes!
I have my eye on park slope as a neighborhood to look for gigs in, it’s not far from me and has a lot of places that seem like they might welcome music, manhattan would be great too. (I’m happy to be easy background music)
Ideally this is for musical growth and making money in nice environments and possibly fun travel, I mentioned guitar but also open to anyone else if this resonates, or joining an established group.
