A Gibson 1965 NR Firebird I, with a few mods making it much more playable.
If you're looking for an unadulterated 1965 bird this is not it. The tuners have been swapped for Schallers (have the original Klunsons). Nut was upgraded (have original). 3 way selector switch was upgraded, so as to not cut out when moving between pickups. The original owner, for whatever reason, took the finish off the body (not the neck). I happened to love that, and it was part of the reason I bought it. Bridge pictured is an aftermarket adjustable bridge, but will be switched back to the vintage 1960s bridge. Original tremolo arm included.
The pickups are the original 1965 hand wound Gibson P90s. After trying a few different noise cancelling P90s(humbuckers), I had a dummy cancelling system installed in the back cavity of the guitar. This cut out about 90% of the SC hum and retained I'd say 95% of the original sound of the pickups. The absolute best possible compromise IMO. If you love P90s but hate the hum, this might be for you.
The guitar had a full Plek done by the previous owner, so the fretboard feels good. It could probably use a bit more love to get it playing perfectly.
This Firebird has had no headstock breaks, which is exceedingly rare with these guitars and how old they are.
This comes with a Gator ABS bass case that fits it very well horizontally. There is plenty of room for the headstock, so there is no pressure on it.
This is a steal of a price for a very playable 1965 firebird. Please reach out with any questions and let me know if you’d like to come check it out. Thanks!
