I am a senior level PR consultant with 19 years of agency and freelance experience. My clients are primarily technology and digital media companies who also tend to be early and growth stage companies with significant venture capital backing. I also work directly with my clients' executives (founders, C-suite, heads of marketing).
Most often I am tasked with leading PR, storytelling and media relations efforts for my clients. I work a lot on story creation, positioning, messaging, news frameworks, press outreach, managing press interviews, and ultimately, placing stories about my clients in a range of press.
I started up my consultancy / agency in its current form in late 2017. One of my big lessons over the past year is that growing fast is not the path I'd like to take. I am resetting a bit in 2019 and focusing on quality of work product, exceptional client service and setting a stronger operational foundation. I'm also experimenting a bit with my agency services model to see what the right approach is. Creating better work-life balance for myself is also a big 2019 goal.
Right now I'm looking to interview internship candidates who are open to working on a contract basis (independent contractor). What that means is:
-- you and I can decide in advance how many hours per week you'd like to work
-- you have flex and autonomy in setting your own schedule (within certain parameters that work with my business)
-- you are free to work alongside me at my office in Greenpoint or to work remotely or from home
-- you are paid once monthly and taxes are not taken out of your check
It's important that in this position you have these qualities:
-- you have strong writing skills
-- you have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-- you have enthusiasm about working for technology and digital media clients
-- you are a fast learner
-- you have a strong work ethic and you embrace honesty and accountability
-- you have a strong desire to build relevant experience in PR and marketing
If you desire this role, it's also important for you to understand that you would be working alongside a very seasoned veteran. My goals are to maintain revenue and sustainability. I am a kind and compassionate person, but I am also emotionally mature and no-nonsense. This isn't a come in and have fun and party role, it's a work hard and learn role (and have a bit of fun along the way). You would have the opportunity to get serious and very transferable experience in working alongside me.
