Looking for a dependable person to handle common area upkeep across small apartment buildings in Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, and Crown Heights.
This is simple, steady, part-time work. Same tasks every week. No experience required — just reliability.
Compensation: $600 to $700/month flat pay depending on reliability and consistency
Storm Bonus: $25–$50 per major storm event (heavy snow, ice storms)
Hours: 6 to 7 hours/week — 3 visits per week
To ease commute, 1 visit for each of three Brooklyn Zones:
Day 1 / Zone 1: Bed-Stuy / Clinton Hill (3 buildings — walkable between them)
Day 2 / Zone 2 Crown Heights (2 buildings — walkable between them)
Day 3 / Zone 3 — Gowanus (1 building, ~25 min)
Start: Immediately
WHAT YOU'D HANDLE:
Weekly (Every Visit):
- Sweep and mop all hallways, stairs, and entryways
- Wipe down handrails, mailbox areas, and front door glass
- Check that hallway and stairwell lights are working — report any burnt-out bulbs
- Pick up any litter or debris in common areas and front stoops
- Make sure entry doors close and lock properly — report if they don't
Garbage and Recycling (On Collection Days):
- Move garbage and recycling bins to curb before scheduled pickup
- Return bins to storage area after pickup
- Break down any boxes or bulk items left in common areas
- Keep garbage storage areas clean and organized
- Ensure bins are properly placed to avoid sanitation tickets
Smart Devices & Batteries (As Needed):
- Replace batteries in Ring doorbells, smoke/CO detectors, keypad locks, and motion lights (owner provides batteries)
- Wipe Ring doorbell camera lenses
- Restart internet router if tenants report outage (unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in)
- Report anything that looks off or isn't working
Seasonal:
- Winter: salt sidewalks and front steps before/during storms, shovel snow from sidewalks and building entrances (storm bonus paid for major events)
- Fall: clear leaves and debris from front areas, stoops, and tree beds
- Spring/Summer: sweep front stoops and sidewalk areas, keep entryways clear
Reporting:
- Text or call the building owner if you notice anything unusual — water leaks, broken locks, damage, graffiti, pest activity, or anything that looks wrong
- Photograph common areas after each shift (quick phone photos — takes 2 minutes)
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Reliable above all else — you show up on your scheduled days every single week
- Live in or very near Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, or Crown Heights — short commute matters for this role
- Take pride in clean work — these are well-maintained buildings and we expect them to stay that way
- Able to handle basic physical tasks — sweeping, mopping, carrying garbage bags, shoveling snow
- Reachable by text — you'll get occasional messages about schedule changes or extra tasks
- Honest — if you see something wrong in a building, you report it
