Postmodern “Neon Monoliths” aka sculptural floor lamps made by Artist Rudi Stern, circa 1970's. Each lamp is constructed of black enameled steel with a neon component (Red & blue, respectively.) a warm neutral top torchiere light, dimmer switches for each component, and a standard edison wall plug.
Rudi Stern founded the New York Studio and gallery ‘Let There Be Neon’ in 1972. His pioneering work with neon established it as an art form in the 1970s and 1980s. Most famously, his work was commissioned for the infamous nighttime hot spot Studio 54. He also executed commissions for such artists as Nam June Paik, Chryssa, Laurie Anderson, Jeff Koons, Robert Rauschenberg and Keith Haring.
