ONE OF A KIND:
I designed this couch and had it made by a woodworker in Austin TX. My idea was to make it into a storage and sitting couch as well as a centerpiece and display case of the living room. It didn't come out exactly as I wanted but worked perfectly well. It's a gorgeous couch using the best available plywood on the market. It's hand stained and finished. This is not a factory item... there's only one of these in the world.
NO PETS NO SMOKE HOME
CONSTRUCTION:
it's excellent quality ply. Not MDF or some sort of composite. It's very strong.
-the whole thing is disassemble-able into four pieces: main shelf and sitting space; side shelf: back support/storage unit with an attached cover; side arm-rest board.
-connector screws/bolts keep the whole thing together when it's assembled. Very easy to do (I can do this for you if you're not handy)
-stain and finish is done by hand. There's still not a lot of imperfections on it and of course since it's quality ply it can be refinished if ever needed.
STORAGE AND SHELVES:
If you look at the pictures you'll find that the storage areas are ample.
-there are very deep shelves underneath the cushions that can hold books, art, toys, board games (I have several chess boards and such)
-on the side there is an attachable two level shelf with tons of storage. This can be attached to either side of the couch of remain separate I guess
-in the back there is a hiding place, with another hiding place in it (here I have been hiding some art frames, fancy bottles of wine and whiskey, some supplies for my work and hobbies). It's an excellent storage spot like the other two.
CUSHIONS PILLOWS AND UPHOLSTERY:
Custom measured and made by a local upholstery place that only recently closed its doors. They were on 5th Ave at 15th St. They were there for years and did fantastic work. I guess the rent finally got them to move out.
-the fabric is very expensive, strong, attractive. It can be removed and washed by hand or machine washed (I've never done it though, but can if you like). Not sure about the drying though but I'm not sure I would throw it in a dryer. It's stain resistant also, though I don't remember spilling anything on it.
-the sitting cushion is relatively comfortable and firm.
-the two back support pillows can be removed for more space on the couch, if you have a guest for example (I've only had a couple of people sleep on it throughout the time I've had it, but I do hang out on it watching TV)
-there were several yards of fabric leftover so the upholstery place made us 4 pillows to match. Two big two small.

$:
Initially the cost was more than double of what I am asking. Just the cushions were $1500. The couch was between $3k and $k somewhere and the shipping wasn't cheap either. I will be OK with $2000. If you have an offer, please reach out.
LOGISTICS:
-currently assembled at my home with little use lately other than storage. It can be disassembled in less than a half hour probably, and of course I can do that.
-it's very heavy when assembled but manageable when taken apart. I moved it with my ex initially and we used a dolly
-transportation would likely require at the very least a large minivan. Preferably even bigger.
-my building has elevators.
DELIVERY is available. I have an SUV and access to other vehicles at times. However, please understand that I cannot do this for free unless you are very close to me. I would have to charge as it would be a very involved project. But don't hesitate to ask. We can always work something out.
