Job Description

Maru Coffee

The name Maru comes from the native Korean word San Ma Ru, meaning “mountaintop.” It symbolizes our dedication to quality, inspired by the fact that the finest coffee beans are grown in high-altitude regions.

Maru was born out of a deep appreciation for process and a commitment to everyday excellence. We are inspired by analog simplicity and the ritual of well crafted coffee. We believe that quality should feel approachable, and that tradition can be both respected and thoughtfully reimagined. Every cup we serve is made with care, balance, and intention.

We currently operate three locations in Los Angeles. Our first café opened in 2016, Los Feliz, followed by our Arts District location in Downtown LA. Most recently, we opened Maru Espresso Bar in Beverly Hills. We are also preparing to open a second Beverly Hills location in the upcoming spring or summer.

All of our coffee is roasted at our roastery in Glassell Park, Los Angeles. The facility spans 5,000 square feet and was previously home to Intelligentsia Coffee’s West Coast operations. It houses three roasting machines and has a capacity of 500 pounds per hour. While we have the ability to roast at scale, we prioritize small-batch roasting to ensure the highest level of quality control. This roastery supports all Maru cafés, including our newest location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

We’re opening very first café outside of California in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, just two blocks east of Domino Park. Known for its diverse and vibrant community, Williamsburg is home to a mix of young and established residents, artists, and professionals who contribute to the neighborhood’s dynamic cultural scene. With a unique blend of residential, commercial, and industrial spaces, it has become a thriving hub for both living and working. We’re very excited to be part of the Brooklyn community.
