Position Overview: We’re seeking a detail-oriented Food Runner to join our fine casual Cajun Creole restaurant in Tribeca. This role goes beyond traditional food running—you’ll be responsible for the final garnishing and finishing touches that make each dish presentation-perfect before it reaches our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Plate Finishing & Garnishing: Execute final plating touches including fresh herbs, micro greens, sauce drizzles, and traditional Cajun/Creole garnishes. Ensure every plate leaving the kitchen meets our presentation standards with proper placement of lemon wedges, parsley, green onions, and other finishing elements. Maintain consistency in portion sizes and visual appeal across all dishes.
Food Delivery & Service: Deliver food promptly from kitchen to tables while maintaining optimal temperature and presentation. Communicate clearly with servers about which dishes are heading to which tables. Navigate a busy dining room efficiently while carrying multiple plates safely.
Quality Control: Inspect each plate before service to ensure proper temperature, correct accompaniments, and flawless presentation. Alert kitchen staff immediately to any issues with food quality or plating errors. Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and allergens to answer basic guest questions.
Kitchen Support: Keep garnish stations fully stocked and organized throughout service. Maintain cleanliness standards in expo and runner areas. Assist with basic prep of garnishes and finishing components as needed. Support kitchen team during high-volume periods.
Requirements: • Previous restaurant experience preferred, fine dining or upscale casual a plus • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times • Strong attention to detail and commitment to presentation quality • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude • Ability to stand for extended periods and carry heavy trays • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays • Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
