Job Description:
As our Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of food preparation, quality control, and kitchen efficiency. You will lead a talented team, manage inventory and ordering, and contribute to the creative development of our menu. Your deep knowledge of African and Caribbean cuisines will help us continue to deliver exceptional and authentic dishes that our guests love.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and cleanliness.
Lead, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to ensure high performance, productivity, and adherence to kitchen policies and safety standards.
Ensure consistency and quality of food, maintaining authentic African and Caribbean flavors and presentation.
Assist in menu planning, development, and innovation based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to ensure that food costs stay within budget while maintaining quality.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
Implement and uphold food safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with health regulations.
Coordinate with the front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth flow of orders and timely service.
Handle staffing requirements, including hiring, training, and scheduling of kitchen team members.
Maintain a positive and collaborative working environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a professional kitchen, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (Kitchen/BOH).
Proven expertise in African and Caribbean cuisine, with a deep understanding of traditional ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques, preferred.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, including food safety, inventory management, and cost control.
Creative, adaptable, and passionate about culinary arts.
Ability to manage a team, resolve conflicts, and motivate others in a high-energy kitchen environment.
Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
