This is an insanely rare, 3 digit serial purple badge TLM170i with legendary provenance. It comes from one of the big five major production studios (think Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, Sony, Paramount) It is in nearly perfect condition. It has some wear and oxidization which is to be expected from a 40+ year old mic.
What makes this mic special: aside from the provenance noted above, this mic technically shouldn’t exist/doesn’t make sense with the Neumann badging system. TLM (Transformer Less Microphone) Neumann microphones feature a red badge. So why is this one purple? This mic originates from before Neumann started producing red badge TLM. It was likely produced in 1983.
