An antique Catholic Passion Cross religious diorama in a shadowbox frame, made in 1877 by Herbert Constable of Boston, labeled “Thy Kingdom Come, 100 Days Indulgence Each Time (Pius IX, 14th June 1877)” to the front.
great condition overall - some scuffs to edges of frame. bottom mostly (see pictures)
The diorama features a carved wooden crucifix with gold tone Christ figure to the center; the piece is set against an engraving on paper depicting Mary and John standing at the foot of the cross. The work includes an assortment of silver tone charms that represent the Instruments of the Passion including the scourge, the ladder, the seamless garment and others. The work is lined in gold fabric with floral embellishments and presented under glass in a ornate wooden frame with moulded foliate motifs throughout.
