Progressive Publisher Seeks Out of Print Books (New York)

Our press is a new, progressive publisher whose business model is based on the need to change the traditional publishing paradigm. We are aware that many good books have gone out of print due to the limitations inherent in this older business model. In response to this, we want to help authors place their books back in print through an innovative mix of technology and marketing aimed at reaching each book’s key audience.

Currently, we are looking for well-written and well-documented books in two areas:

*Small business entrepreneurship that makes use of community resources in every aspect of their business models from idea to hiring to sales and marketing

*Volunteer projects that have proven successful in environmental protection projects

We only publish books in e-book format in order to ensure that readers can afford our books; that our books will stay in print; and that we do our part to reduce the environmental impact of printing books.

Currently, we would like to partner with authors whose books have gone out of print but who have retained their copyright. In addition, our potential partners would be willing to see their books updated and reformatted to take advantage of the greater benefits of publishing in e-book format.

If interested, please contact us by responding to this ad.

** Please note that applications without cover letter will not be considered**

Executive Assistant/Office Manager

We’re Urgent Career, a NYC-based startup that is revolutionizing sales recruiting. We are developing technology that will leverage computational linguistics to find, screen, assess, and match salespeople to open positions. Think of it as eHarmony for sales professionals.

While our technology is in development, we’re operating as a full-service sales recruiting firm. We are constantly exploring and optimizing new techniques for passive candidate targeting, including outsourcing, social networks, keyword and advanced resume search, split networks, referral emails, as well as more traditional methods. At the same time, we’ve been building our stable of beta clients, learning from our mistakes, and establishing a proven business concept. We’ve been growing so quickly that some of the fundamental details are starting to get overlooked and we’re in serious need of help.

That’s where you’ll come in.

As both the executive assistant to our Chairman and our office manager, you’ll be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

•	Coordinating conference calls and conference room schedules
•	Preparing daily schedule for the chairman and review with him each day to discuss priorities, phone calls, and meetings
•	Managing, updating, and prioritizing the chairman’s calendar
•	Managing the chairman’s email correspondence and responding or delegating as necessary
•	Acting as a high-level liaison and gatekeeper for the chairman
•	Preparing and coordinate lunches, dinners, or other business events
•	Coordinating travel arrangements, accommodations, and car reservations
•	Collecting and reviewing expense reports for employees as well as preparing Chariman’s expense report
•	Ordering and maintaining office supplies
•	Preparing and assisting with daily communications, including emails, phone calls, and meeting notes
•	Managing our vendors – from our efax account to our outsourced HR solution, we need a point of contact to keep it all running smoothly
•	Tracking and managing our client contracts and client invoices
•	Special projects to be assigned

You should be:

•	Experienced! Have you been in the trenches? 2+ years at a startup or small company strongly preferred.
•	A good negotiator. Can you haggle like the best of them?
•	An amazing problem-solver. Can you think of a way to handle anything?
•	Incredibly organized. Do you color code your sock drawer?
•	A great writer and editor. Can you come up with our best pitch or correct our grammar?
•	Comfortable on the phone. Have you ever cold called? We are a sales organization at heart and love proactive outreach.
•	Attentive to detail. Did we spell that right? Is that meeting on the right day?
•	Good with numbers. Do you love excel?
•	An amazing muti-tasker. Can you juggle? Priorities shift often around here.
•	Practical, Confident, and Urgent. Can you help us continue growing?
•	A team player.
•	Stubborn for perfection and armed with the entrepreneurial spirit to make it happen.
•	Able to keep all the people together and the pieces moving, no matter what.
•	Eager to take on more responsibility as the company grows.

Urgent Career is growing quickly, thanks to a smart, nimble, driven team, and the seasoned leadership of Jeff Stewart. Jeff is a serial entrepreneur and investor with proven experience growing successful technology-enabled businesses. We have excellent backers and a superb advisory board that are guiding our development and strengthening our position as a disruptive force in the job matching space.

We offer competitive compensation with full benefits (health, vision, dental, 401k), vacation, and stock option.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you! Please submit your resume and cover letter.
