Classes are for any age dog who needs to learn basic obedience. Commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and heal will be taught along with any other issues you may be having at home such as jumping up on people, stealing food, barking when doorbell rings, ect. Socialization will also be worked on.

Monday November 16th - Beginners Agility from 7:30-8:30pm for 6 weeks for $175

Another fun way to bond with your dog is to do agility. It's great for very active and agile dogs. Learn to do jumps, weave through poles, go through tunnels, go across the dog walk, and much more. Basic obedience is a prerequisite for agility.

Animal Shelter (Westchester 10704)

I would like to create awareness for the New Yonkers Animal Shelter.

The Yonkers Animal Shelter is located at 120 Fullerton Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704 (southern Westchester). It is very run down from what I saw and the city of Yonkers is in the process of building a brand new facility across from Stew Leonards. It will hold 160 dogs and cats in new comfortable spaces. Building this new facility will need financial support. The city is in the arduous process of raising $ 2.3 million.

I am hoping to raise not only financial support but awareness of this issue because many people do not know that their own city has an animal shelter. I am hoping to find kind and generous people who are interested in supporting this animal welfare issue.

You can help by visiting the website at www.newyonkersanimalshelter.org, check out the animals, make a donation, or both. The city is also offering a "tribute brick" fundraiser. ASHANTE was found as a stray and brought to the shelter a few days ago. She is also very petite at only 41 lbs and the shelter estimates she is about 4/5 yrs old. She was extremely shy and even fearful when she arrived at the shelter but as I took her out on a daily basis, she came out of her shell and is just an absolute love, very gentle, calm and fine around other dogs. It's obvious that DAVE has had a tough life. She (yes, Dave's a girl) arrived at the shelter hungry, worn out, and covered with small scars, some of which look suspiciously like cigarette burns. And after the many days she must have wandered the streets without food, this poor girl looks older than her three years. But in just a few days, she's started to reclaim some of her beauty. She has the brown and white coloring of a boxer and the cute little freckled lips of a bulldog. And even though people obviously have not been good to her in the past, she's still incredibly sweet and trusting, crawling into my lap, and falling asleep next to me on a chair, as if all she's been waiting all this time for someone to notice her and care for her so she can put her head down and rest.

Her behavior test reveals that she guards her food. Not surprising for a dog, who's spent time on the streets without enough to eat. Proof of how hungry she is: We had a box of healthy dog biscuits outside that every other dog spat out the moment they tasted them. She ate about 10, and would have happily eaten more. And she ate most of them out of my hand while I pet her on the head--so if she does have food issues, she seems as if she'd be a great candidate for rehabbing as food guarding is EASILY TRAINABLE but she needs to go to someone who is EXPERIENCED at handling dogs with food guarding NO SMALL KIDS and it's best if she is an ONLY DOG This lovely dog had an owner who did not treat her well (she was wearing a leather collar when found). She deserves a chance at a REAL HOME and REAL LOVE PLEASE GIVE HER THE CHANCE TO BE IN A LOVING HOME!!

Beatrice is an adorable 1.5 yr old bull terrier mix, who weighs around 35 lbs.

With a patch of brown over her eye, Beatrice looks just like the pup from "The Little Rascals." She's just as cute and sweet, and I should mention smart, as well -- Beatrice knows how to sit, loves treats, loves to sniff everything, loves to take walks, and did I mention she loves treats? She will take them politely from her hand and even will sit down before you even think to ask her with a gleam in her eye as if to say "Look what I did! I sat! Can I have a treat now, please?" She is also a good walker and was very polite around any other dog we encountered on our walk. When we were done with our walk, we sat down on the couch -- well, I sat, and Beatrice collapsed happily with her head in my lap and her belly up in the air so I can rub it. The best way to spend a Saturday morning for the both of us!

A very sweet, smart girl who deserves a good home.I could do a lot of things to Beatrice -- gently pinch her, squeeze her nose. She loves roughhousing. Kids visiting the shelter were delighted to wach the two of us playing together on a sofa. Beatrice very pretty, reasonably good on the leash and takes food gently from your hands. She seemed at times uncomfortable with pushy dogs, and responded by crying rather than barking. She knows the command sit and appears to be housetrained. She arrived here as a stray on 8/10/09 and weighs 35 pounds. She's just a year old.

Caramel is a little timid at first, but comes out of her shell quickly! Caramel loves to follow you around and when it's time to go to bed, she will curl up under your covers for a good nights sleep. Lolly is a two year old beautiful girl that my husband and I are fostering in Pleasantville, NY. She is one of the sweetest and most loving dogs that we have ever met. We want to find her a wonderful home that will show her as much love as she deserves!

Lolly does WONDERFULLY with 2 of our dogs (male and female hounds). At times, she does not mesh well with our very dominant female Cocker Spaniel that rules the roost. Because of this, we think that Lolly should only go to a home no other dogs or cats. A dog that is about her same size and submissive (like our two hounds) would most likely be fine. She LOVES human attention and would be best with a human who works from home or fairly short hours.

Lolly Facts:

* She will give you full body wiggles and will squeal for delight when you come home!

* Lolly loves to cuddle and is a bit of a bed hog, however she will sleep in her dog bed if you tell her.

* She is house-trained and knows some basic commands already (sit, stay).

* She takes treats gently from your hand and has displayed no food/toy aggression issues.

* We love Lolly so much that we'd dog sit her (for free) ANYTIME her new family needed.

A very special five month Toy Poodle-Cocker Spaniel mix needs a new home. Her name is Jordyn and she means a lot to me, but due to unfortunate circumstances I can no longer keep her. It breaks my heart to have to let her go. I've had her since she was five weeks old, and could fit in the palm of my hand. She was born June 5, 2009. I've nurtured her and she is know 11 lbs. and is fully grown. She is fully vaccinated, but will need boosters in 2010. She is very playful, she loves children, loves attention, potty trained, know a few commands such as sit, no stay, give me paw and lay down. The only problem is when she gets too excited, she has little sprinkle accidents. She is very smart and I'm sure she's capable of learning more commands if you take out the time to teach her. She loves to cuddle and walks perfectly on a leash.

This is very difficult for me and I will carefully screen everyone who has interest in her. I refuse for her to end up abused, neglected or worse.

I'm looking for an affordable pet sitter to take care of a very friendly black bear hamster, Mikey, over thanksgiving week and 1-1/2 week for Christmas through New Years. We prefer someone with experience with hamsters, so we know you can tell if he gets sick. Formal pet sitting experience is not required. Tasks would be to feed, water, spot clean his cage, and let him out in his exercise ball for while.

We're open to either dropping the hamster off at your place for the duration, or having a sitter come to our place every couple days. If drop off is needed, we would prefer a place within 15 minute drive from downtown white plains.
