This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience or to transition to the nonprofit sector. The mission of the Garrison Institute is to apply the transformative power of contemplation to today’s pressing social and environmental concerns. The Institute explores the intersection of contemplation and engaged action in the world, helping build a more compassionate, resilient future.<br>

The Garrison Institute program initiatives focused on Education, Ecology and Trauma, bring a contemplative dimension to key social change fields, applying relevant techniques to professional care-giving, teaching and environmental advocacy.  The Institute’s retreat programs bring inspiring teachers and teachings from diverse wisdom traditions to wide audiences, supporting individual growth and social change.<br>

Under the supervision of our Development Manager, the intern will support the day-to-day operations of the department and assist in some of the following:<br>

• Preparing documents and various information for grant proposals<br>
• Entering and tracking various forms of data <br>
• Assisting with mailings, mail campaigns and distribution of materials<br>
• Conducting web-based research<br>
• Organizing and maintaining various files and tracking systems<br>
•	Assisting with details and needs for special events<br>
• Other general duties and tasks as assigned<br>
<br>
Successful intern candidates will have general clerical skills, outstanding oral and written communications skills; expertise in proofreading and editing documents; computer literacy with experience in using MS-Office, databases, email and be internet saavy.  Some functional experience with a fundraising software program is very helpful but not necessary.  Candidates should also possess a strong desire to learn about and support the Garrison Institute’s mission and vision and have a keen interest in development and fundraising.<br>
<br>
Candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program are encouraged to apply as well as those with some development/fundraising experience. Flexible part-time and full-time internships are being offered with a minimum commitment of four months. A monthly stipend is offered based on hours per week.<br>

  Requires  high  school  education,  preferably  a  two  year  degree  with  at  least  2  years 
experience in the field of purchasing or 4-6 years experience if no degree has been obtained.
Job will start off at 10-15 Hours per week (3-5 hours a day, 3 times a week) and can grow to 
a larger role depending upon growing company need.
