NEW PARTNERWORK CLASS EVERY 4TH SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH
$15 per class OR $25 for both
LEVEL: BEGINNER
When: Sunday, APRIL 27TH
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Class Description: This class is designed for students who have accomplished the Basic Beginner Course or have 2-6 months' experience in dancing Salsa ON 2. This workshop is 1 1/2 hours of pure turn pattern combinations and leading/following techniques. This will help you to get accustomed to a social dancing atmosphere and give you a chance to assimilate patterns into your natural flow of movement. I highly recommend this class before you advance to the next level.
Pre-Requisites: You must already know your basics, cross body lead and have mastered your individual single turns and basic partnerwork. This class will teach you new and more advanced partner dancing moves. We focus on improving leading techniques for men and following techniques for women. You must be ready to upgrade your dancing with a bigger and more detailed repertoire of turn patterns dealing with all aspects of salsa partnerwork dancing. Learn to create a better connection with your partner, hear and feel the beat to different tempos of music; learn more challenging turn combinations; and learn turn drill exercises. All of this will improve how you look on the dance floor and to dance more smoothly.
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
When: Sunday, APRIL 27TH
Time: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Class Description: This 1 1/2 hour class will teach you to link different patterns and transition from one to the other more quickly. You will get plenty of practice dancing to different tempos of salsa, and you will learn how to effectively connect with your partner. You learn to execute more technically advanced patterns, which will involve multiple spins, dips, hesitations, lunges, etc. Detailed attention will be paid to embellished footwork, body movement and arm styling. The partnerwork involves more challenging lead changes and sharper following reflexes. I will enforce practice with different tempos of music, and help refine footwork for multiple spins. Double-turns will be emphasized and occasionally broken down. Both Leaders and Followers learn various embellishments of footwork during partnering. At this stage you are able to move from learning technique to being able to connect more completely with your partner and the music, and taking learned patterns and tailoring them to your own expression of the rhythm of mambo.
Pre-Requisites: Must be a consistent intermediate dancer to join this level to refine your partnering skills, sharpen your style and make all steps and turn combinations a natural part of your dancing. Dancers at this level should be completely in control of their leading and following so they can focus on more difficult, challenging and advanced partnerwork combinations.
