Our New BEGINNER SALSA class starts THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH, FROM 6:00-8:00 PM, and is designed for those who are absolute beginners, who have either never danced or danced very little, or those who dance Salsa ON 1. This is THE class to join for new dancers! Singles, couples and teens are all welcome!
All of our Salsa classes are two hours long. The first hour consists of learning "mambo shines" (which is fancy, sexy, open solo footwork), how to develop your own style, and how to execute shines with a unique smoothness all your own. The second hour focuses on partnerwork, consisting of exciting, challenging and dynamic turn patterns, cuban motion, salsa rhythm and timing, styling for men and women, leading and following techniques, spinning, and much more. A partner is not necessary to attend any of our classes, as we have a rotation policy.
There's a reason why our classes are completely full as compared to other dance studios that have very few registered students, classes that are almost empty, expensive tuition and registration fees combined with reduced hours for classes! It's simply this: we give you the best instruction for your money, our instructors are the best in NYC, our progressive salsa curriculum is superb, and our tuition is the cheapest and we give you TWO HOUR CLASSES! Our class begins by breaking down the basic steps, your mambo shines, salsa timing, musicality, rhythms and various tempos of salsa music. Each week new steps and turn patterns are taught and the previous week's steps are reviewed as well. We are renowned for taking basic beginners through the intermediate and advanced levels.
Pre-registration is required in order to hold your spot in the class as the classes fill up quickly.
Every Friday evening at the LORENZ LATIN DANCE STUDIO, we hold our Salsa Dance Social from 9:00-12:00 AM (only $5.00 for our registered students) and $10 for others from the dancing community, where the students (and anyone for that matter!) have a comfortable place to dance salsa and practice what they learned in class. Our dance socials are very well attended, with all ranges of ages and all levels of dancers, from basic beginner to advanced. We pride ourselves on our hospitality as all of our dancers interact and dance with each other, regardless of your level of dancing. Our excellent instructors and dance staff dance, practice and help everyone with their dance moves. Friendly, warm, comfortable and congenial atmosphere. Our Mambo Agility, Yoga & Core Conditioning Workshop is held EVERY FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH.
Our Special Intermediate/Advanced Salsa Workshop is held EVERY SECOND SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH.
Our Merengue & Bachata Workshop is held EVERY SECOND SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH.
Our LADIES' SALSA STYLING WORKSHOP is held EVERY THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH, from 1-2:30 pm for all levels.
Our MEN'S SALSA STYLING WORKSHOP is held EVERY THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH from 3-4:30 pm for all levels.
On the 4th Sunday of each month, we have our 100% SALSA TURN PATTERNS WORKSHOP for beginners/intermediates/advanced students. Our workshop has been voted NYC's best partner workshop!
We have DAYTIME SALSA CLASSES, morning and early afternoon for those unable to attend evening classes.
We also teach PRIVATE LESSONS at any time during the day and evening - our schedule is very flexible.
We have 4 salsa dance teams: Our children's team is The Lorenz Jr. Elite Dance Team, our professional salsa team is The Lorenz Latin Dancers and our two semi pro teams are The Mambo Clasico Dancers and Reflejo de Lorenz, all of whom have performed at the 2007, 2008 AND 2009 New York Salsa Congress!
