I'm a guitarist/songwriter who also has some synth and vocal ability; I've written the music to a nine-track album and have already begun preliminary recording. Hello there. I am a 28 yr old guitarist... been playing for 12 years, electric and acoustic. I am looking for musicians to jam with and hopefully eventually write some songs and play some gigs. I can write songs pretty easily because most of the time when I am playing I am improvising so I stumble on a lot of good ideas. I dont have a lot of gigging experience but I dont think that will be a problem. The type of band I would like to form ideally would be a dirty electric blues in the style of junior kimbrough, rl burnside, the black keys and the white stripes, but also very psychedelic... like junior kimbrough on acid maybe. I am searching for any instruments... a drummer, another guitarist, a bass player or a singer... or any other wacky instruments would be fun also. I play with a lot of finger picking and I like to play a lot of polyrhythms... slower, bluesy style polyrhythms.... so finding a drummer would be the best... and the closer you live to park slope/ gowanus, the better for me!... but I have a car so its not a big deal where you live. Hopefully you smoke weed or at least you are ok with me doing it!

Currently we're writing instrumental material in heavy "post-rock" style (Pelican, Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Russian Circles, Battles) with a lot of backbeat grooves and melody (Black Keys, Radiohead, Fugazi, Trail Of Dead) and a touch of heavier stuff (Baroness, Mastodon, Old Metallica).

The primary goal to have fun and be creative for music sake alone, with the intent of shows and recording in the near future. We play once or twice a week in Bushwick and also do drink and have a good time while playing.

With children I stress fundamentals such as note reading, basic rhythms, and simple melodies. With older and more advanced students, my lessons are more flexible, tailored to the student's musical interests. For some, it's just learning your favorite songs. Others may want to learn how to improvise epic rock solos, improve their knowledge of chord voicings, or swing with some of the jazz greats. All of this is within your grasp.

I've studied with some of greats of the jazz/rock world, including Jack Wilkins, Vic Juris, Jonathan Kreisberg, Larry Coryell, and Mike Stern, just to name a few -- and I'd be honored to pass down what I've learned from them.

Lessons are available at my place in Brooklyn, NY. I do house-calls, though sometimes scheduling/locations are limited. I also offer online lessons to anyone in the world.
