My Approach
Through 17 years of teaching I have developed my own approach to the art of teaching singing. I continue to be pleased by the DRAMATIC RESULTS that I get, often within the first session. I specialize in a voice as an instrument approach. That is to say, you learn to play your instrument (voice) as an instrumentalist learns to play theirs. This includes exploring the range, sound, textures & nuances of your voice along with developing STRONG TECHNIQUE and musicianship.

I have created my own BODY, BREATH, VOICE, WARM-UP as I see these three elements as inseparable. The warm-up encourages relaxation,effortless vocalizing, a positive singing stance, whole-body breathing and brings an awareness of "you" as your instrument.

I work with developing MUSICIANSHIP SKILLS and EAR TRAINING which are also tremendous CONFIDENCE builders, so necessary for singers. I have developed tools for opening the voice so that you can utilize your vocal instrument to it's potential with all of its colors, range and power.

I encourage expressing your own ORIGINALITY. Rather than taking away from what you already have, we'll add options and vocabulary so you can sing more expressively. We will work on expanding your skills and vocal palette perhaps replacing some old habits with more positive ones.

Teaching voice is a vast subject. For some students a few lessons are enough as the first handful of lessons are especially powerful. For other students who prefer to go more deeply the work can continue for years. It's up to you as to how many lessons you take. Lessons and vocal exercises are personalized according to the need of each student.

Quirky Rapper Seeking Musical Collaborator(s)

I write lyrics. Most of the lyrics that I've written are not relevant to this post, but I have about ten songs (pretty much just lyrics right now, with the number likely to grow substantially with musical help) that I would like to start performing at open mics before the end of the year with some sort of (decent quality) musical backing. The catch is I want to do this without a budget, so this would have to be a partnership in which when I get paid then anyone playing with me at the gig gets a fair share of the money made that night (or day, as the case may be). I also can't guarantee that it won't take a ton of work and a bunch of luck to start getting paid, since NYC clubs aren't exactly for throwing money at no-name acts, but with the right people this would at the very least be a lot of fun.

My rhyming skills are far superior to my craigslist posting skills. If what I do had to be pigeonholed into one sub-genre of rap then it would probably be nerdcore, but I'd rather not be pigeonholed. My personal favorite at the moment is about a combination of fantasy sports, heartbreak, and borderline stalking. Other topics include hair loss, video game violence, a lonely pickle, and Kate Moss' "I didn't have time to eat" excuse from last year.

While I'm not going to turn anyone down for being a musical genius, what I'm really looking for are the three C': competence, consistence, and composition. Compositional ability is essential since I currently have no music-writing ability, and you don't need to be able to read or write music and long as you can improvise and remember what worked for each song. Having and being able to transport your own equipment is essential, as is being able to get to Western Queens and Manhattan reasonably easily. If your work schedule means you're hardly ever free on nights or weekends, that's also not good. But if everything you've read here makes you feel like you might be a good fit for my project and/or would like to ask me any (pertinent) questions, feel free to send me an email and we can try to figure something out from there.

In spite of what Bono may think there are some of us out there who still believe that Rock and Roll is the greatest musical force there is and when done right the greatest joy and will NEVER die. We have a start-up metal band that primarily jams in Queens. Right now we just have a guitarist (plays mostly rhythms with an ocassional lead), drummer, and bassist. We have about 5 or 6 originals that are essentially finished. We are looking to continue writing material with new bandmates and hopefully play some shows in the near future. Hello, my name's Tim De Benedetti and I've been teaching the guitar for over five years and playing for well over twenty. I play in some bands you may know- The Wiles, DIPLODOCUS, and Toby- and I'm also a composer of classical piano music.

I want to give you music lessons because I love talking about and teaching the language of music. The guitar is a particularly popular instrument in our time and so it is with the guitar that I do most of my lessons, although I also teach piano, and theory and composition.

I guarantee to my students that I can play anything I can hear and it is this ability that ultimately I want to pass on to you- this is understanding music. With this ability you're able to become your own teacher, but in order to develop this skill one must develop their musical foundations, understanding the workings of tonality, which ultimately is an understanding of how the language of music works, almost like a science.

I teach my students whatever it is they want to learn, from the technical aspects of a piece of music to the theoretical underpinnings of a work. We can learn to play songs that you're interested in, or study particular guitar solos. You can learn a lot about how music works through analysis of music you're already interested in, and we can get down to the essential things at work in a piece of music so you can wield the same results in your own music. Music is a language that everyone understands already, my goal is to have you speaking it.

Recently moved from Buffalo, NY to Brooklyn, met up with another musician and started a band. Don't have anything recorded that is current, but here are the links to my old band

My old group played with MGMT, Matt and Kim, Matt Pond PA, Appleseed Cast, Headlights, All American Rejects, Tokyo Police Club, Sebastien Grainger (ex Death From Above 1979), the Octopus Project etc. We were pretty serious and with this new group we want to keep that same work ethic going.

Currently, we have a practice space in the Park Slope area and practice 2-3 times a week. We are looking for a dedicated bass player, who wants to play shows, record and tour.
I would say the new band is a cross between the Rentals, old Belle and Sebastian and Muse. You could come check us out.

The work is 80% done, I had hired an incompetent artist and I just do not want to have him finish the job. The layout is already even in the templates. All I really need is some typography done in illustrator. This CD will be printed at disc makers.

I have all instruments, play guitar(have many), keys, bass, drums. Have V drums with all the latest drum programs BFD, DHFS

Very high end audio converters and use the best pro audio programs and plug ins (Samplitude, Uad, Waves) use midi and have the best Roland keyboard sounds and the plug in Ivory for superb piano sounds. Pro vocal booth and mikes.

I would also sing, arrange vocal harmonies and could play any instrument as needed as well as assist in writing and arranging.

In response to some FAQ's:
RECORDING: I point a stereo condenser mic and/or a digital video camera at the stage and record the gig; I mail a CD and/or DVD of the performance the next day.
VAN: I pick you up at your apt or rehearsal space, drive you & your gear to the gig & back. Yes, I do help carry gear, and I'm very good at what I do. For a little extra I can guitar tech as well.
PA: I bring the sound system, set it up & run it. From a 4-ch to a 16 ch board or 1200w powered mixer, 700w subs, mains, monitors, mics etc; I also have battery powered amps and a gas generator for outdoor gigs. $150 will cover a folk singer in a coffee shop or small bar. Most gigs will be around $300 and up.

Disclaimer: The video and audio recordings are good for podcast, webcast or for sharing with family & friends. If you want a professional broadcast-quality music video contact a production company and be ready to spend a few grand!

I am providing these services because that's what I wish someone had been doing for me all these years (I play in bands myself), and as a way to make a few extra bucks. All prices quoted are the base rate; I will not do anything for less and most services will cost more. Again, if you want, say, the van, PA system and video recording we can work out a package deal.
