Interested in helping an innovative start-up establish its social media presence? Interested in how technology is changing how medicine works? This internship will give you direct experience!

We are seeking a motivated and well-organized writer who would love the chance to apply their writing and social media skills to help an innovative startup expand its online presence. Our company builds web-based and mobile iPhone applications for doctors, a hot area directly at the center of the how technology is changing the way doctors practice medicine. There is a lot of excitement about using iPhone apps like ours, and doctors are hungry for information about the latest app and how their colleagues are using it. It will be your job to help us provide that information.

The position is unpaid but we will be happy to work with your school to get you academic credit for your work. Also, when you're in the office, lunch (or snacks and drinks from our fully-stocked kitchen) is on us. We are located in SoHo in a renovated cast-iron loft building. We prefer students but graduates are welcome to apply as well. We need someone for 10 hours per week. You are welcome to do your work from home…or wherever. You will need to come to our offices for a weekly progress meeting.

Our intern will do a lot of writing, a fair amount of research and get the chance to contribute their ideas as we build our presence on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. You should be able to show you are a well-organized person and have some experience writing on business-type topics. We will also want to see that you can delve into new subjects and learn them quickly; that's the research part.

Our writing style is clear and concise, but not boring - we use the power of plain old English rather than corporate double-speak and euphemism. You will work directly with a former reporter and editor with experience writing for the The Wall Street Journal, among other periodicals.

Please include your resume and two writing samples in your reply, along with a paragraph about why you're a good fit for the job. We look forward to hearing from you.

Message Board Monitors:

Our company is hiring additional message board monitors to join our team and help enforce the "rules of the road" on our recently established message boards. These message boards are monitored at scheduled times throughout weekdays, weeknights, and holidays -- scheduled "sweeps" occur during morning and evening hours.

Your job would be to review all new postings since the last scheduled review time, evaluate each new posting against a Terms of Service guideline, and decide whether a message should remain on the board or is in fact a violation of the Terms of Service. You will not be required to communicate directly with message posters -- just handle the behind the scenes process.

You would work with a team of other message board monitors, so you would select shifts to accommodate your schedule. It would be necessary to commit to your scheduled times 2 weeks in advance.

This is a paid, work-at-home, independent contractor relationship. If you respond to this ad, please be sure to describe any relevant/related work experience and attach your resume. You MUST have either experience moderating online message boards or professional proofreading experience.

Absolute Minimum Qualifications:

We are seeking people with hyperfocused reading skills, strong knowledge of message boards, the Internet and computer technology, and a passion for online communication.

Excellent written communication skills.

Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Experience working on or using online message boards.

Sports blog looking for writers

New sports blog being developed and looking for editorial staff. Looking for people who are passionate about all sports, are informed, opinionated, funny, can dedicated a significant amount of time a day to contribute, and know how to write a provocative blog entry. Must have writing experience and/or prove that you can handle the assignments with writing samples.

People behind the blog are advertising executives who know how to make something big. Currently, no funding is available for salaries but venture capital is being secured and the ultimate plan is to make this a full-time paying gig within a few months. This is a serious endeavor by people who know how to do this and we are looking for people who are dedicated to writing and not looking for people who think this just sounds fun...

The plan is to secure a full staff (half already secured) by the end of the year and launch the advertising-supported blog after the new years.

If you are interested, please respond with either a link to your blog or an original writing sample about a sports related current event/topic.

thanks

I want to write a book about my weight loss...

...but I'm having trouble accomplishing said weight loss. Therefore, I'm looking for a new acquaintance to help support, push, move me forward in my efforts. You would basically be the fairy angel on my shoulder moving me towards accomplishing this goal. If you don't like that image, let me leave it at this: We would sort of be 'in it together'. Details to be decided between us.

Afterwards, we would write this book together about the experience. One catch: I'm not moving to NYC until May, so it would have to be mainly a phone relationship. Hoping to lose 70 pounds by April.

I think this would make a great concept for a book. It would basically be an unusual & over-the-top solution to a problem (the problem of a food addiction)...To tell you the real details behind the book (I sort of embellished for this post's title): I had wanted to write about my weight loss back in April but it seemed like every other book out there. I recently had THIS idea, and (to me anyway) it sounds pretty great and a lot better.

I'm an Ivy league-educated, smart, talented writer, and you should have talent in this area (writing) as well.

I'm 29, female. if you're around my age and also female, i think that's the best- but not a necessity by any means.

Mediaite.com Seeks Editorial Interns for Spring 2010

Mediaite, the media news blog founded by Dan Abrams (MSNBC's Chief Legal Analyst), seeks Spring interns to work in its New York offices for January-May of 2010.

Both full-time (5 days/40 hours a week) and part-time (2-3 days/16-24 hours a week) internships are offered.

The primary qualification for this internship is an obsessive knowledge of the media industry, both print, broadcast, and online. If you are closely following stories such as the Condé Nast cuts and the Comcast-NBC deal, read newspaper sites but bemoan their ability to adapt to the 21st century, and know at least one corner of the blogosphere inside and out, this is the internship for you.

The following qualifications are also helpful, but by no means necessary:

*** Knowledge working with blogging software/content management systems such as Movable Type, Joomla, and Wordpress
*** Experience working or interning in print, broadcast, or internet media
*** Experience with graphic design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite
*** Experience with video editing software such as iMovie and Final Cut

As a recently launched blog, we give our interns a relatively free hand in pursuing and writing stories. Our current interns regularly discover and post breaking news, analytic articles, and video content - and, importantly, regularly receive bylines.

If interested, please attach THREE documents to your application email:

*** A resume/CV, including references
*** Any sample of your academic or journalistic writing
*** A brief (1-page) letter explaining why your experience, knowledge, and personality make you the ideal intern for a media blog

Interested parties should send applications to Andrew Cedotal through the following email address: internships AT mediaite.com

Applications are due by Friday, November 13. Applicants chosen for an interview will be informed by email no later than November 16th.
