Nielsen IAG is looking for talented editors who have exceptional knowledge of the English language (grammar, spelling, idioms, slang, etc.) as it is used in the United Kingdom.
Are you interested in advertising and how it affects consumers? Are you a creative thinker who can recognize believable, alternate endings to a story? Can you quickly learn a proprietary writing style and implement it in your work, and also impart it to others as a knowledge leader? If yes, this might be the job for you.
Editors ensure the integrity of online surveys that measure overall viewer recall of advertisements. Surveys must meet our editorial rules, as well as those of U.K. English. Nielsen IAG's editorial style is complex and evolving, thus editors must learn the specifics very quickly while also adapting to style changes with short notice. Also, editors work closely with writers to finalize copy, and so must be comfortable providing constructive criticism in a busy atmosphere.
This is a part-time position with demanding deadlines. All work is done in Nielsen IAG's Manhattan offices, so no telecommuting is possible.
Compensation is $20 per hour.
Successful candidates will have exceptional knowledge of the English language (grammar, spelling, idioms, slang, etc.) as it is used in the United Kingdom, and at least three years professional journalistic editing experience, preferably editing copy for U.K.-based publications/Web sites. Bachelor's Degree is required. Also, all writing is done within a database so it is essential to be totally comfortable working with a computer in a paperless environment.
