Examiner.com delivers unique content that is contributed by passionate people known as Examiners. Examiners are college students, civil servants, retirees, PhDs, musicians, magazine editors and stay-at-home parents. Examiners are credible resources – the “go to” experts in their local community. The number of Examiners’ is growing daily!
Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Examiner.com is looking for a dynamic addition to their team. The Director of Channels will ultimately be responsible for all of the content on 25 Channels. This position reports to the Senior Director of Editorial & Channels.
The Director of Channels is a key member of the leadership team and will play a critical role in building this business. The primary areas of responsibility for this position include the following:
-Manage a team of 12 to 15 Channel Managers and ensure they are building robust and deep topic online channels
-Ensure the existing recruiting strategies are generating the necessary number of Examiners to support the channels
-Ensure adequate retention of Examiners; set the parameters and continuously track and improve
-Advocate on behalf of the Channel Managers across all areas of the company
-Understand and be able to function at all levels of the Channel Management team
-Provide the necessary analysis and reporting for senior management on channel performance
-Organize the existing channels and recommend new channels based on feedback from the marketplace
-Continue to evolve the channel strategy in order to grow the value of the business
-Stay abreast of changes in the social media space that may impact Examiner.com
-Develop and support internal and third party opportunities that grow the channel offerings

To fulfill this role, we’re looking for the following:
-Past experience building an online, content specific array of channels that creates excitement, generates visitors and page views and builds community
-Experience managing managers – ideally a group of at least seven people
-Ideally, experience leading large groups of writers, contributors or individuals contributing to an organization or cause
-Demonstrated success leading one or more large web sites and growing readership
-The ability to think strategically and to execute plans in a timely, on-budget manner
-Proven ability to think strategically, to embrace enormous scale and to create systems and programs to help drive success across a multitude of verticals

-Strong communication skills – able to articulate opportunities and problems and build support for change
-The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects
-The ability to be comfortable with ambiguity, continuous improvement and change
-A true sense of teamwork and a willingness to take on additional duties and wear many hats in order to meet critical business objectives
-A high level of enthusiasm and energy and excitement about Examiner.com
