Audio/Video Technical Project Manager
Join a small (6 people) and growing audio/video sales, design and installation company as a technical project manager. As we are a small company, we are in search of someone that has a variety of skills and is willing to learn and take on the job as if you were an owner.
About the job and skills required. The job consists of two three main areas.
"Soft" skills are 60% of the job:
- Technical in nature. Understand what a signal path is, know the difference between XLR and RG6, explain gain vs. EQ, etc.
- Computer skills a must. Adjust COM port settings, be comfortable learning GUI's of proprietary software, adjust output resolution, etc.
- Writing skills. Succinct, accurate writing with ability to articulate thoughts in writing. Will be required to update clients on job progress, write requirements for vendors, etc. General ability to communicate via email.
- Project management. Extensive and detailed plans for a job including every connector and wire. Time layout and daily/weekly targets for job.
"Labor" skills are approximately 20%
- Equipment installation. Connect wires from pre/pro to amp, install control system, connect TV's, etc.
- General labor. Mount a TV, pull wires, rigging and speaker mounting and, on occasion, sheet rock/plaster/paint.
"Networking/inter-personal" skills 20%
- Primary client contact for on site questions and progress updates
- Coordinate with other trades/vendors on site for scheduling and logistics
- Management of other workers on site. Arrival times, maintain efficiency of workers, delegate installation duties, etc.
- Networking. Sales "light". Although not a primary focus, asking for referrals, follow up on leads and handling yourself professionally in networking situations is essential.
Specific skills that are a major "plus":
- Programming and general knowledge of the following brands: RTI, DBX, Universal Remote, B&K, Russound, Soundcraft, AKG.
- Carpentry experience, especially painting and sheet-rock installation.
