Summary:
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, I.T., the Sr. PC Technical Support Specialist provides technical and educational support to UNITE HEREs end users. Diagnosis and repair of personal computers, laptops, printers, cell phones and other electronic equipment problems that increase user productivity.
Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Ability to work independently on the resolution of all hardware and software end user problems
Maintains knowledge of developing technology advancements and evaluates potential internal uses
Maintains video conferencing equipment, scheduling and troubleshooting all discrepancies
Knowledge of network infrastructure and backup protocols
Evaluates and prioritizes requests for computer hardware and software to be purchased and/or added to one of UNITE HEREs local area networks.
Provides ongoing support to the PC and Macintosh users in the daily use of the systems implemented, including but not limited to training users, answering questions and suggesting methods to increase user productivity.
Suggest standards for desktops, laptops etc. that allows the best support options
Track calls in the Help Desk database with timely status updates.
Acts as a liaison between users and computer maintenance service company, if unable to resolve work requests. Updates Help Desk database used to track work request calls and dispositions.
Maintains accurate inventory of all hardware and software assets
Solicits vendor pricing for hardware and software purchases. Prepares purchase orders. Gathers supporting documentation for payment of invoices.
Orders supply items for computer room equipment (e.g., backup tapes, blank diskettes).
Assists in the implementation of database applications. Implementation phases include systems design, development and modification, testing, documentation, training and post implementation review.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Education or equivalent experience: BS in computer science, CNE or MCSE certifications, or equivalent work experience trouble shooting PCs and MACs in a high-pressured office environment.
Specialized knowledge or skills: Knowledge of local area networks, PC hardware, printers, and PC software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Support Magic Help Desk software.
Additional qualifications: Interested in improving productivity with computers; excellent hardware and software troubleshooting, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
