I am offering my newly rehabbed 1 bedroom East Village apartment from December 23, 2009 through January 3, 2010. In exchange I am looking for a country home or place near skiing in Vermont or New Hampshire on or about December 29 - January 3 (dates flexible).
My apartment has flat screen TV, dishwasher, washer dryer in building, exposed brick and close to all the nightlife of the East Village and Lower East Side. The apartment is on a quiet block and faces a back garden so is very quiet. Sofa in living room and big enough to accomodate another person on an air mattress if necessary.
Yours: Somewhere in Vermont/New Hampshire. Skiing is great, but country with no mountains is okay too.
Will gladly provide photos on request.

Our 2 bed/1 bath West Harlem apt for yours in DC (Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Cathedral Heights) – Visitation rights a strong possibility.
Work has dragged us kicking and screaming from our charming 900 sqft 2 bedroom 4th floor walk-up apartment near City College and Columbia University down to the DC area for the year beginning January 1, 2010. Ideally, we’d like to swap our place for an apartment around Dupont Circle, Georgetown or somewhere on the Red Line NW.
Our place is walking distance to Riverbank State Park (one of Manhattan’s few 50 M swimming pools), Riverside Park, Fairway Market and some great restaurants. It’s 3 blocks from 137th Street subway stop and about half way between Columbia’s main campus and medical center.
Unswapping for the occasional weekend is a possibility.

My shared appt in Paris, your Manhattan, Spring 2010, 1 semester (Harlem / Morningside) 1bd

Hello,

I am a French PhD student. I'm coming to Columbia University as a visiting student from mid-January to May/June 2010.

I am looking for a person who is coming to Paris at the same period and wants to exchange their flat/room in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

MY DATES ARE FLEXIBLE, my only constraint is to be in NYC until the end of the spring semester at Columbia.

In exchange, I am offering a room in a shared appt, with my two room-mates, cool and active PhD students who have jobs too. both French, fluent in English.

The flat is in the center of Paris, 10th arrondissement, at Strasbourg-Saint-Denis (metro station), near République and the Canal Saint-Martin. There are many restaurants, bars and shops close by: it's in a very lively and mixed neighbourhood. just 5 minutes north from central Chatelet with the metro, 15 walking, 7 by bike... and 10 minutes away from the Marais. Many metro lines and bus lines down the road.

The appt is 68 m2. There are : 3 independant bedrooms, a living-room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and lavatories, all linked by a long corridor. It is sunny AND quiet ! Your room would be 12 m2, with 2 windows, fully furnished, with a double mattress, bedding, a large desk, book shelves, etc...see photo below.

The rent is worth 470 euros per month all included (utilities, furniture, internet , phone including free calls to the US... and even a bike if you like !) = 706 US dollars. so I would pay an extra amount if your rent was more exprensive, up to 250 dollars.

I am looking for something more or less equivalent in Manhattan or Brooklyn : Ideally, a shared appt with other mature students or young people with jobs, less than 45 minutes away from Columbia University...

If you are interested just send me an email !

Penelope

NB : more and better pictures on request.

This is a great opportunity for a visiting student !!!

Hi,

I have a really nice one-bedroom apartment with a king size bed, spa bathtub, doorman, washing machine, wif-fi, etc. It is in walking distance of Tribeca, Chinatown, Battery Park and the South Street Seaport. I did an apartment swap this summer and it went so well I thought I would try again.

I am looking to trade my apartment to go anywhere warm and sunny for a week or two between now and March 2010. Will consider any location, US or international. Non-simultaneous swap also a possibility.

Thanks!

My flat is located in Brixton (zone 2) in south London. It's a small 1BR in a quiet building that overlooks some back gardens. The kitchen is fully equipped (if you like to cook!) and the flat is wifi enabled.

Brixton is 12 minutes on the Victoria line into central London and is very well connected by buses. It's an edgy, dynamic area of London with a strong West Indian and African presence plus a good dose of young professionals thrown in. There's great nightlife in the area - clubs, bars, pubs, Brixton market (meat, fruit, veg), a Sunday farmers' market. It's a great slice of London life and something different than what you'd see in central London! I'd be happy to give you some local tips of where to go.
Drop me a note if you are interested.

We have a beautiful two bedroom apartment at the top of Nob Hill that we are looking to swap. It is one block from Grace Cathedral at Sacramento and Leavenworth down a tree and flower lined walking path about 50 yards from Sacramento Street and consequently very secluded and quiet. The location is walking distance from Polk Street, the Marina, Fillmore Street, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach and Union Square, basically the perfect location if you want walking access to the city. The apartment was remodeled to the studs in 2005 and has a large remodeled kitchen and 1.5 baths. There are 2 bedrooms, but only one has a bed (a king size) and we use the other as an office/in home gym, so we would be looking for a couple or individual to swap with, and no more. We have mostly brown leather and antique furniture.

We are looking to swap for a nice, clean and not rundown one bedroom+ apartment in Manhattan from January 10th-17th, 2010. West Village/Village/SOHO/Chelsea area would be preferred, but we would consider any place below 95th street in Manhattan. Please send pics if you are interested.

Hi,

I am offering my 1 bedroom apartment in Greenwich / West Village for your Paris apartment.

I am very flexible with dates. Although I would not prefer it for longer than 2 weeks. My ideal would be around 10 days sometime between January to April.

My apartment is in amazing location in West-Greenwich village. It's on Macdougal St. between Bleecker and West 3rd. Near Washington Square Park. It’s one of the most popular areas in the village. Everything you would near is there! West 4th Subway stop (A,C,E,F,V,B,D trains) is also a block away from my apartment.

The apartment is a large 1 bedroom and it is very nicely decorated. There is queen size bedroom, and another queen size pull out coach in the living room. The living room is very nice, looking at the MacDougal street. The kitchen is great for cooking if you are interested.

Please let me know if this sounds interesting, so we can talk details!

FYI: I am also renting this apartment during Christmas and New Years for $150 a night!

Thanks,
Beril

I'm looking to swap my French country-style Manhattan studio for your Los Angeles home by the beach December 4rd -13th.

My 450 -square-foot L-shaped studio is an oasis in the heart of Chelsea, below Times Square and within walking distance to the West Village. With yellow walls, a comfy red couch and chair, and an entire window wall facing south, the space feels like a bright, sunny French country hideaway on the third floor of a doorman building with an elevator and laundry facilities in the basement. The tiny kitchen has a full-sized stove and refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven - and a pass-through window overlooking the living area. There is a flat-screen television (no cable), VCR, DVD player and stereo. In addition to a double bed, there is also a queen-sized pull-out couch. The big secret is the large roof garden with panoramic views of the city.

Located on the corner of a tree-lined brownstone street, the apartment is a two or three blocks from the red, blue and orange subway lines and the new High Line park and blocks from major grocery stores like Whole Foods, Garden of Eden and Gristedes. Nearby landmarks include the Chelsea Hotel and the Joyce Theater. The movie theater is three blocks away, as are shopping destinations like Home Depot, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Buy Buy Baby and Filene's.

My shared appt in Paris (France), your Manhattan, Spring 2010 (Harlem / Morningside) $700 1bd

Hello,
I am a French PhD student. I'm coming to Columbia University as a visiting student from mid-January to May/June 2010.
I am looking for a young person who is coming to Paris at the same period and wants to exchange their flat/room in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
MY DATES ARE FLEXIBLE, my only constraint is to be in NYC until the end of the spring semester at Columbia.
I will confirm the exact dates shortly, which we can negociate together of course.
In exchange, I am offering a room in a shared appt, with my two room-mates: they are cool and active PhD students who have jobs too, both 24 years old, 1 male and 1 female, both French, fluent in English (one also speaks Portuguese and Italian). They have travelled a lot and are very welcoming, so you shouldn't have any problem communicating... they expect a laidback, open-minded person, who is also clean, independant and respectful.
The flat is in the center of Paris, 10th arrondissement, at Strasbourg-Saint-Denis (metro station), near République and the Canal Saint-Martin. There are many restaurants, bars and shops close by: it's in a very lively and mixed neighbourhood... just 5 minutes north from central Chatelet with the metro, 15 walking, 7 by bike... and 10 minutes away from the Marais.
The rent is 470 euros per month all included (utilities, furniture, internet , phone including free calls to the US... and even a bike if you like !) = 706 US dollars.
I am looking for something more or less equivalent in Manhattan or Brooklyn - although I am willing to pay more given prices in NYC... Ideally, a shared appt with other mature students or young people with jobs, less than 45 minutes away from Columbia University...
If you are interested just send me an email !
Penelope

NB : more and better pictures on request.
This is a great opportunity for a visiting student !!!

Hi there,

I'm Vincent and I live in Paris, right next to Palais de l'Elysée.
I'm in my late 20's and I'm an experienced home-swapper.
I have a meeting in NYC from December 1st to December 3rd, and am looking for a swap.
I'd like to spend a week or two in the City right before or after this meeting.

My preferred dates would be from November 27th to December 6th or December 11th.
Dates are really negotiable though.
This swap doesn't need to be simultaneous as I can stay somewhere else in Paris if needed.

Pictures from my place are available here : http://www.1sthomeexchange.com/14792.html
And you can see a picture of me on the homepage as well under the article : More About Vacation Home Exchange.
CBS made a video about one of my previous exchange, that I can send to anyone who might be interested.

Talk soon.

I would like to swap my bright, cozy, clean, quiet one bedroom apartment located on 99th St. and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan for a house or condo at the beach in Miami, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. My apartment is available from December 18h to December 27th but we need your place at the beach from December 20th to December 29th. It is for my boyfriend and I. The swap can be non simultaneous. You can stay at my apartment either from the 18th to the 27th or any 9 nights that you need it before December 10th or after January 6th. The building is very quiet and safe, and is located at the corner of 99th St. and Lexington Avenue, three blocks from the 96th St. station of the 6 subway line (rated the best subway line in New York). The apartment is only one flight up and it has one bedroom with a queen size bed, TV, DVD player, and a small desk with a chair; a bathroom with bathtub; a kitchen with a dining table and everything you could need to cook and eat; a living room with a full size futon sofa bed, etc.; and a small studio with a desk and the closet (I don't have anymore the small sofa you see in the picture). Both the bed in the bedroom and the sofa bed in the living room are very comfortable. The apartment is very clean and cozy, and has lots of windows with southern exposure, which makes it very bright. You will find sheets, towels and everything you will need for your stay. It is very close to Central Park, the museum mile, restaurants, stores, supermarkets, and everything else that you could need. YOU WILL SHARE THE PLACE WITH MY ADORABLE FEMALE CAT. She has already shared the apartment with different people in many occasions, and they all loved her.

Hi there,

My girlfriend and I live in a very large studio in the diverse and exciting neighborhood of East Village, NYC. The studio is large (about 600sq ft), in Alphabet City, and is very spacious, colorful and full of photos and art. We have a garden next to us, on ground floor, accessible rooftop with skyline views, large flat screen tv, queen bed and fold out couch. I work 6 days a week which restricts me from getting out of the city much, but with upcoming holidays we would like to rent a car, train or bus somewhere peaceful here in the Northeast. We love the Catskills region, Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Twilight, etc., and are open to other quiet, nature-orientated places in the New England area such as Vermont, Rhode Island, CT, upstate NY, Boston, etc. We are looking for small, quaint towns so we can relax. We have a puppy that will be traveling with us. We are late 20's, professionals, and very clean/respectful. Please let me know if you are interested...I can send pics upon request. Thanks!

I understand that apartments in Manhattan get swapped for Paris/London/Tokyo and I'm not assuming that our single family home in the Boston area is anywhere as cool. I (a Harvard postdoctoral fellow) am just hoping that someone (or some couple/family) is planning to visit the Boston area during Christmas/New Years and are interested in swapping houses.
And oh yeah: the title of the ad says "Manhattan" but other (good) areas with easy access to Manhattan would be fine too, of course

We offer a single family home 8.6 miles from downtown Boston:
•	Very nice/safe neighborhood.
•	Two and a half bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and a study (three beds that each fit two adults, one children's bed)
•	Plenty of free parking.
•	High speed Internet, washer, dryer, etc.

We are very clean and responsible, non-smoking and are looking for similar folks.

If you can offer your home Christmas or New Years (or if you have a suggestion for some other weekend), please send an e-mail.

Imediately available, I am looking to exchange (on a full time OR a part time- back & forth basis/possibly until next spring or longer) my adorable cottage style studio in the South Beach area of Miami Beach Fl. For a clean cozy studio or for a spare bedroom bedroom in NYC. With a respectable, responsible person. Apartment has10 ft ceilings, wooden floors, eat in kitchen with mexican pavers, front & back french doors, lots of windows, surrounded by manicured green green old lush trees & foliage, air condition & heat, washer & dryer on the prem, just a half a block to the famed beautiful Lincoln Road, two blocks from public transportation (but often, you can walk most everywhere) Mc Donalds, Starbucks, FedEx, inexpensive to expensive places to eat, shop, go clubbing & six blocks to the bordwalk, & warm blue blue ocean. Lots of available parking in the area. Ok to bring a kitty or a well behaved dog with you. Although there is alot to do in the area, the apartment is also very peaceful, quiet & safe. Perfect for a writer or a person who just wants to get out of the cold city & enjoy dazziling Miami Beach. I possibly until the spring. Thank you & look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hello! Starting December or January I will once again travel to NYC and would like to swap for a few months - preferably longer.

My name is Robert and I am a Dutch international correspondent and writer (44).

My loft, a real loft, not a so-called loft, is located in a National Monument: the former Military Hospital, within the ancient city centre of Amsterdam. The rear windows do have a view on a canal.

Features:

-800 square feet (77sq.M.)

-Suitable for 1 or 2 persons - 2 when the bed is replaced by a Queen-size bed.

-(very) high ceilings (up to 6 meter). Spacious, smashing and light.

-At walking distance from the River Amstel (4 minutes), the Hermitage Museum (6 minutes) and the City Hall and Opera (10 minutes). And just at the end of my street, a 15 minutes walk, the Rijksmuseum with the Rembrandts and the Vermeers.

-Tram and metro around the corner, bike in the basement.

-Fully equipped (Cable TV, Flat Screen, High End Hifi-stereo set, professional espresso/cappuccino machine and grinder, dishwasher, Wifi, wash machine/ dryer, microwave etc)

The house is beautifully furnished with 18th century French Directoire and Empire and Dutch early 20th century Art Deco furniture and everything is of the highest quality - as can be seen on the pics. More pictures avaible.

Of course there are books in English.

I would like to swap for an apt. in Manhattan, pref. in a high-rise building, pref. FiDi, Lower Manhattan. SoHo, TriBeCa, Clinton, Hells Kitchen, Union Square, etc; you have got the picture. The more South and the taller the building, the better. Though I also like Midtown. All I want is a room with a view :-)

Last year, I did spend 3 months at the Upper West Side, which is NOT my neighborhood. Still, of course, I will consider.

No need to say Amsterdam is the perfect operating base to discover Europe. Trains to Brussels (3 hours, one way starting from 27 USD), Paris (4 hours, 35 USD), London (5.5 hours, 70 USD), Berlin (6 hours, 56 USD), Mediterranean (Nice, Marseille, 8 hours, 63 USD) Vienna (11 hours, 132 USD). I think you have got the picture :-)

Consider it: to stay in Europe for a longer time !

Well, let’s talk!

Best regards, Robert

my 3 br Village townhouse now - your South Beach apt at Christmas (West Village) 3bd

I am travelling from Nov. 16 to 27 and want to find responsible family or couple to swap. I have two cats (one is an adorable fluffy white half Siamese three month old kitten) and am fine with your pets. My desired dates in South Beach are Dec. 23-30 approx. I have to be back here on the 31st.

I'm looking for an equal-value exchange which means a two or three bedroom on the beach in one of the prime SoBe buildings on a high floor, or a private house. My house is on Leroy Street between Bleecker and Bedford, a very quiet small lane in the heart of the West Village. It is one of NY's most expensive neighborhoods.

My house is five stories, three bedrooms, two baths, with two working fireplaces and two private outdoor spaces, a double height greenhouse dining room, double height mahogany library, kitchen with Aga stove, teak and slate. Every appliance and amenity, wifi throughout, etc.

My house is on Apartment Therapy (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/house-tours/pauls-asian-tribute-house-tour-100447) and has been published in Marie Claire Maison's Turkish edition last year.

See video of my house here: http://www.rexcheck.com/?action=view_class&pk=1204

NEW YORK FOR SIDNEY AUCKLAND OR WELLINGTON - JULY, AUGUST 2010 (Midtown East)

I live in a two-floor, two bathrooms 1 bedroom house with large porch overlooking my backyard, to which you have full access.

The house is located in Astoria, right in front of mid-town, 1 minute to the closest subway station and 10 subway minutes away from east mid-town Manhattan. One block away from the Museum of the Moving Images, and a walk away from the Nagucci Museum and Socrates park, which are right at the waterfront. You choose: in ten minutes you can be at PS1, MoMA, in Central Park or anywhere in the heart of Manhattan. It will take you 20 minutes to be at Union Square or Times Square.

You are surrounded by good (and inexpensive) ethnic restaurants, pubs, bars and are one block away from the Kaufman movie complex, which is one of the largest movie theaters in New York. Needles to say…your favorite Starbucks is right in front of it. You can comfortably to your grocery shopping without walking more than one block and can pick and choose where to go buy your groceries. The post office is a 5 minute walk from the house. The public library is a 2 minute walk.

The neighborhood is extremely quiet, has little traffic and is well served by public transportation (both subway and buses) and is very, very safe both at day and night. If needed there is a car service right at the corner that will bring you anywhere. In 30 minutes you are at JFK (airport), and can comfortably get from JFK to my house via public transportation for a grand total of $7.00.

I am looking for a swap in Sydney from June 29 through September 1.

Please no children or teenagers, and no more than two people. Professional people preferred. Experienced swappers preferred.

Thank you.

Sunny Isles, FL (miami beach) apartment studio for Manhattan NYC Swap (Midtown East)

Hi, I'm interested in finding a place to swap in Manhattan, NYC from 11/20/09 thru 11/23/09 (3 nights). We are looking for a place close to The Waldorf Astoria in Midtown East.

We have a studio unit in Sunny Isles, FL that would like to swap for your apartment in NYC.

To see info on Sunny Isles, FL go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunny_Isles_Beach,_Florida

The building is called Sahara Beach Club located at 18335 Collings Ave. Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160. It is a two story building and the unit is on the second floor. It used to be a hotel which was converted into individual units. It is an oceanfront location with secure parking. This studio unit sleeps up to 4 and has a kitchenette with range, refrigerator, microwave, counter, table, cable and 2 pull down Murphy beds. Excellent location, across the street from a large grocery store and just minutes to Aventura Mall, Bal Harbour and about a 15 minute drive to South Beach. The Sahara offers a huge swimming pool.

The beach is quiet, a private stretch of beach in an International destination and it's a building away from the Trump International.

It's really not a luxury place but the area is and the studio is not bad. The usual rent is about $100 per night more or less depending on the season.

I have the apartment pretty much empty the entire year exept for 12/2/09-12/8/09 and then from 1/5/10-4/15/10. Any other days other than those you are welcome to stay.

Thank you
