Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Technical Writer position is to create a Software Requirements Specification (SRS) for a new Rich Internet Application (RIA) based in part on an existing desktop application. The candidate will work closely with product managers, software developers and end-users to gather functional requirements through interviews with all concerned parties to identify and document major business requirements. The candidate must also analyze the information provided in order to identify additional underlying requirements and/or potential conflicts, as well as provide data flow diagrams, work flow diagrams, business process models, use case diagrams, etc. where necessary. The candidate must have previous experience writing SRS documents, demonstrate strong written & oral communication skills and write in a clear & concise manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant technology experience.
- 3+ years experience as a technical writer, including writing technical documentation, requirements documents and use cases.
- Must have experience creating functional & technical specification documents.
- Must have experience creating business requirements documents, data flow diagrams, work flow diagrams, business process models, use case diagrams and use cases using Microsoft Office and other tools.
- Must have a knowledge of web-based application requirements and demonstrated background in gathering, documenting and tracking business/user requirements for a web-based application.
- Must have basic knowledge of current web technologies and business intelligence frameworks.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum of instruction or supervision.
