Job Description:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the firm's enterprise systems and associated databases. "Enterprise systems" includes databases and supporting applications, client interfaces, reporting, and back-end scripting and queries. The systems include document management (iManage WorkSite), knowledge management (WestKM), document imaging and routing (AccuRoute), litigation docketing (CourtAlert), accounting and related programs (Elite), records/conflicts (LegalKey), human resources (PeopleSoft), and marketing (InterAction). Analyzes and resolves problems related to data, software, servers, and usage. Installs and maintains system software- including upgrades and patches. Monitors performance. Maintains system security. Makes recommendations for planning and budgeting. Provides expertise and experience with complex technical activities and projects. The position requires extensive interaction with other departments, and involvement with departmental projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administer the firm's major database systems and related applications- installs, upgrades, patches, backups, reports, and performance- not otherwise listed below.
Responsible for day-to-day management and support of the Firm's document management system (iManage WorkSite) and related systems, including ethical wall systems, matter-centric workspace generation tools and automated data import tools.
Responsible for day-to-day management and support of WestKM.
Responsible for day-to-day management and support of AccuRoute.
Assists with day-to-day management and support of the back-end infrastructure of the Firm's internal and external portal running SharePoint.
Assists with day-to-day management and support of the litigation docketing system, CourtAlert.
Track and optimize system performance and storage utilization and plan ahead for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support the systems responsible for.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (continued):
Work with the Networks group to oversee the operation of servers and storage dedicated to systems described above, including hardware and software installation, upgrades, service packs and patches, system monitoring and job scheduling.
Analyze the needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems. Develop technical, structural and organizational specifications. Meet with various departments and users to determine firm needs.
Document current and new systems and operations for use within the department and transfer knowledge about system operations to end-users. Help to identify essential skills and training needs.
Assist Database Administrator with database software and system management as necessary.
Participate in DR planning for enterprise systems.
Performs other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum 3 years of related experience
Experience with iManage WorkSite and related systems required. We are currently running v8.2/8.5. iManage certification desirable.
Experience with matter-centric document management strongly desired.
Experience with WestKM strongly desired.
Experience with and understanding of clustered systems strongly desired.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2003.
Knowledge of SQL and TSQL.
Experience with any of the following desirable: AccuRoute, CourtAlert, IPDAS, SharePoint, InterAction, LegalKey.
Understanding of multi-office network environment.
Application installation, data conversion and testing experience.
Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques.
Excellent listening skills and written and oral communication skills, including effective presentation skills.
