Job Summary:
Manages computer assets. Plans and implements hardware and software upgrades. Recommends hardware and software purchases. Tracks system performance. Provides end-user support. Manages user accounts. For those positions involving laboratory management and operations, may also include development and management of integrated computing, networking, security and presentation capabilities.
Requirements:
o BA/BS in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
o Minimum of 7+ years of high level hands-on systems support/ engineering experience required
o Highly fluent in Microsoft technologies such as Exchange, SQL and Active Directory
o Highly fluent in storage technologies such as NetApp, EMC, SAN and common backup and restore software and policies is required
o Experience with VMware (ESX Infrastructure) is required
Responsibilities:
• Ensures computer systems are reliable, robust and secure
• Installs and configures computer hardware and related peripherals, operating systems and application software
• Plans and implements data backup and restoration procedures for disaster recovery
• Plans and implements file system and volume management procedures
• Evaluates, recommends and implements solutions to system management and monitoring problems
• Troubleshoots system outages
• Documents system configuration and tracks changes
• Develops tools for automating tasks
• Provided end-user and project support
• Evaluates new technologies
• Develops policies for resources utilization
• Administers access policies
• Manages equipment acquisition, licensing and accountability
• Maintains coordination and resources haring among facilities
