TheLadders is looking for a Unix Systems Administrator with a passion for technology, excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This person will assist the Director of Infrastructure in the day to day operations of a 24/7 production environment. Responsibilities
Assist in the day to day operations of a 24/7 high traffic web environment as well as assist and plan new build-outs and initiatives
Configuration of firewalls, load balancers and other production equipment
Scripting, automation and troubleshooting of processes and systems
Design, configure and report on server and systems monitoring, backups, and utilization
Production deployment experience with TCP,NTP, SNMP, SMTP, ARP, HTTP, BIND, SSH, SSL using Redhat Enterprise
Scripting, automation, and troubleshooting
Requirements
6+ years experience in a production 24/7 high traffic web environment based on Open Source technologies
Experience with VMWare virtualization infrastructure a must
Linux and/or BSD Unix expert with strong debugging skills
Familiarity with Java, Apache Tomcat, and MySQL administration
Strong understanding of best practices for software engineering, secure systems design and scalable fault tolerant web architectures
Systems programming, performance optimization and network design experience a must
Past hands-on experience with full site deployments from the planning/design stages to full implementation
Ability to program fluently in one or more scripting languages Perl and shell preferred
BS in Computer Science or related field
Experience with monitoring systems, configuration management and incident response systems a plus
Experience with SAN, Active Batch, Splunk, Bladelogic (Automation/Packaging) a plus
Experience managing Microsoft technologies a plus
Comfortable in a startup environment with flexible work schedules and 24/7 availability
Attention to detail a must; excellent communication skills
