Perceptive Pixel seeks a smart, self-motivated, organized, proactive individual to fill the position of IT Systems Engineer. This is a position that would take care of all the IT needs for our growing startup company, across our offices. Fulfilling this role means making sure that our staff has the technical resources they need to be productive, including services such as data sharing across sites, internet access, telecom, and desktop software. Our users are smart and self-sufficient, and the underlying system needs someone who can keep it running smoothly as we continue to grow. This is not an entry-level or training position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, deploy, and maintain:
  • Systems for data sharing and communication across offices and remote workers
  • Application servers such as enterprise wiki, bug tracking, and support ticketing
  • Admin systems for unified logins across Windows, Linux, email, VPN, and local web applications
  • Source code control - subversion with possible migration to other SCM systems
  • Local network services such as DNS, DHCP, firewall, VPN
  • Backup systems
  • Backend of customer-facing support sites
• Hardware purchasing/tracking/configuring/installation/inventory
  • Vendor selection and negotiations
  • Software license maintenance
  • QA and testing of products prior to deployment
• Documentation and communication of processes, results, and problems
• Some local Windows and office application desktop support
• On call for system support

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors in technical field or equivalent experience
• Hands-on implementation skills in
  • Network security and linux system administration
  • Credential systems such as Active Directory, LDAP, PAM
  • Mixed windows/linux/mac administration
• Attention to detail
• Skilled project manager
• Excellent shell scripting skills, at least one of Perl or Python
• MySQL administration experience
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Occasional travel to assist our satellite offices may be required
