We are currently building a massive technology network to support the growing demand for Infrastructure-as-a-service for the investment industry. It will have all of the built in capabilities of a tier 1 investment bank and we will charge access to the infrastructure on a per user per month basis. Hedge funds and broker dealers will no longer need to have a communications closet, instead will only require a fiber optics connection to our data centers and will have email, file, and print serving, VoIP, Blackberry, Routers, Bloomberg, direct market access, and complete BC/DR.
We are currently seeking a Global Director of IT Infrastructure who will undertake responsibility of designing and managing the infrastructure on a regional level and ensure appropriate technologies and processes are in place to support organizational initiatives with plans to expand into other geographic locations. The individual will:
* Execute global standardization projects in the areas of network, communications, security, collaboration, and support leveraging existing infrastructure and providing comparable service levels with future plans to expand globally.
* Execute global server consolidation and data center strategy to implement network based computing infrastructure.
* Develop global hardware and equipment standards and plan gradual move towards standardized global infrastructure.
* Use global leverage to drive cost improvements through vendor consolidation and develop global account relationships with key strategic vendors and service providers.
* Work with PMO on implementing key change initiatives of IT infrastructure, using structured PM approach.
* Determine the mix of global vs. local technologies matrix to evaluate the mix of infrastructure that delivers service most cost effectively.
* Work with low cost country resources / out sourced providers to deliver SLA based support to business users across all geographies.
Requirements
Experience and qualifications:
* Must be up to date with all infrastructure technologies specific to the financial industry and should have implemented initiatives successfully with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the function.
* Must be key metric focused and cost optimization driven using business case approach to drive infrastructure improvement and policy definition.
* Must have experience working with outsourced services, including preferably offshore and collocated data centers. Prior experience in server and network consolidation moving to a network based computing model would be ideal.
* Should have experience negotiating global network contracts and developing global contractual arrangements with leading hardware and software providers.
* Should have deep knowledge of financial industry technology vendors (Bloomberg, Reuters, Eze Castle, etc.)
* Should be completely conversant with hardware, security, networking, telecommunications and remote access technologies and future directions.
* Experience working with project management approach for project definition, execution, control and reporting.
* Familiar with ITIL and Service level approach to supporting business with IT infrastructure.
* Bachelor degree with advanced qualifications preferred. Project management qualifications advantageous.
