Be Doree's Shining light...needs FOSTER/ADOPTER TODAY to Survive!! (Manh, Bk, Queens, LI)

Our Doree needs a FOSTER (or ADOPTER) immediately. She is a 2 year old brindle pit mix with an enourmous heart. She wags like crazy and her entire aura changes when she meets someone. We are seeking an FOSTER for Doree right away to remove her from the EUTHANASIA list...but she has to be the ONLY pet (see her story below). We imagine her healing the heart of someone whose dog may have passed or someone who has dog experience and finally wants one of their own!!

We are having a horrible time getting her out of the shelter since she must be the only pet and she is on the euthanasia list only because there are too many dogs here and no room for all of them. As well, she has fallen through the cracks and never been shown in the adoption room. NY is so overrun with wonderful pits and she is certainly one of my faves... please read her story and consider this loving dog!

Doree was found tied to a pole in the alley between two apartment buildings in the city. a few neighbors wandered over to discover here there after hearing her yelps and cries for help. She was completely emaciated, but had obviously been a victim of breeding! Unfortunately, no one in the area could adopt her so they brought her to the ACC. There she sits in her cage patiently awaiting her ticket out of there! And she deserves it!! She was placed on the euth list once and was pardoned. But now she finds herself there again only due to lack of space. As she hears feet pattering towards her cage she perks up and becomes joyous! And that's one reason we believe whole-heartedly in Doree, but we cannot save her alone!!!

Doree doles out the kisses, is eager to please and when you meet her she prances over and puts her paws on your waist. She is so small framed and cute that it just makes her more irresistible! In her past, she was used for breeding and then abandoned in an alleyway. She is a beautiful gal, but as are many female dogs abused for breeding, she shows fear by getting very protective of herself around other dogs. So we need to at least find her a temporary home where she is the ONLY pet. Please help us get her somewhere safe! A trainer will be provided to her foster!

Sniffy (cute name!) is a 12yr old, neutered stray found in the hallway of a building. Imagine being in a strange hallway & BLIND. He must have been terrified. Many animals live long happy comfortable lives without the help of sight. They can still love, cuddle, play, eat, drink, & yes, go potty! Why should he die because he can't see. He shouldn't. SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE THIS GUY!!! Bootsie is a lover boy!!! He is 2 years old, gorgeous, weighs 12 pounds, and is NEUTERED!!! Owner notes say �litter box trained, well behaved, loves men, women, children and CATS!!! Never been around dogs, very nice and friendly with cats, likes to be petted.� Bootsie was brought into the shelter on 10/9 because someone had allergies. On 10/10, he was examined and rated �severe� because he was �hissing, growling and trying to bite�. He was SCARED. Wouldn't you be? On 10/12 his behavior was changed to �mild� and the note says �animal calmed down�. After spending time with Bootsie, the volunteer said: "he loves being petted, rubs his head and face on my hand and on my face, lays his head in my hand to relax and is just a little lover." The volunteer spoke to a staff member & was told that he had let Bootsie have the roam of the room when cleaning as he was such a �cool� cat. He is now on the euthanasia list for �behavior�, this just is not fair. PLEASE PLEASE give this "cool" cat another chance. He is only 2 years old. He has so much more life to live and so much love to give.

If your dog is sweet and would want more than a simple "relief walk" then you might want to consider writing me an email. I believe dogs should be able to get love (in the form of cuddling, kissing and playing with toys) in addition to a good walk and some delicious food.

If the rates seem reasonable it's because your dog will be having a playdate with my dog; I believe socialization with other dogs (who are gentle and sweet) is very important. If the rates seem unreasonable, but you have an adorable dog, we can try to work something out :)

I believe your dog deserves better care than what daycare services usually provide. My dog, Lucy, was in daycare over the summer and she was attacked by another dog. THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WHEN YOUR DOG IS IN MY CARE! If you knew me you'd know how crazy I am about dogs... if I had my way I'd give every dog a home in my studio apartment in Chelsea, but I travel a lot and the airlines only let you take one dog! But I will love your dog as though it is mine. We can set up a plan that suits your dog. Perhaps your pup likes going to dog parks (I live near a great one in Chelsea!) or maybe your pup likes to roll around on a carpet and play with toys and get belly rubs, or maybe your dog likes to take really long walks. A few nights ago, we asked for help in saving a ONE YEAR old shepherd mix named flames from the city pound. She is safe, but she still needs a committment from a foster or adopter, or she'll go back on the list within the week. I am seeking people who want to fill out an aplication and meet flame for a possible foster/adoption situation. Time is extremely crucial! What is there to say about this 38 pound girl? First off, she's not going to get much bigger than she is now...which is not big at all! She's got the face of a shepherd on a little, small body. The effect makes her look like a puppy, even though she's almost done growing. It's so cute!! Flame acts like a puppy, too. She likes to chew on things, is very wriggly and squirmy, and is very enthusiastic about kisses. She'll need obedience training to learn to share food-but then she's going to be amazing. She comes at you with a determined look on her little face, ready to kiss you. Her whole body shakes when her tail wags. She'll let you pick her up and snuggle her. She's just an awesome dog for the right person- one who thinks that the dogs who are a little "bananas" are often the very best kinds. Flame is a comedian who will fill your home with laughter and good times, and all you have to do is teach her a few manners and keep her warm, safe, and loved.

We think that this dog came from a rough life, and isn't juts a throwaway pet. Therefore, I really would love someone very kind and very gentle for this dog, who will love her like family, and not just "keep" her as an animal. If that sounds like you, please respond to my ad. $10/day
$40/wk (M-F)
$150/month (20 days a month)

I could send pictures and references and/or meet for evaluation right away. I am also willing to have my background checked. I know how important your pet's safety is. I've had my Maltese Mimi for most my life and wouldn't settle for anything less then perfect care.

I also promise to walk no more than 3 at a time considering pet sizes. I wouldn't walk no more than one big dog though I might pair him/her (if VERY friendly) with a smaller dog (if VERY friendly).

If your dog might have... a high spirit, I might ask for $10/day flat everyday of the month. (Since I'd walk him/her alone)

I would also water and feed him/her and lay out new newspaper/pad and play with him/her as well. (I think it's very important to their well being).

I walk rain or shine and snow (if your pet likes snow).

I have an unopened 30 pound bag of Iams/Eukanuba Low-Residue for sale. My dog changed to a new brand Z-D which my vet said will help with his allergies. The reason I have a full bag is that I use Vetcentric with automatic refills, and they delivered a new bag just as he was changing over. Anyway I paid $57 for the 30-lb bag, I'd sell it for $40. Special Plea for STELLA, the AmStaff, w/Short Reprieve from Euthanasia

The shelter has a wonderful volunteer that is a professional photographer. He is responsible for the many wonderful pictures, which the shelter and various rescue groups us to promote the animals in the shelter. He walked and photographed Stella, who was on the euthanasia list. He pleaded with shelter management while Stella�s �escort� waited rope in hand. And he managed to get a stay of execution for Stella. But of course, her stay is a brief one and she will be back on the list any day unless she's adopted or rescued.

Here is what he wrote about Stella � She has one of the saddest faces a volunteer photographer has ever seen at the shelter. And for good reason - first, this gentle 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix was abandon on the street as a stray, and then she was brought to the shelter as a 'guest' who has outstayed her welcome. She must find a home and family immediately. Rather, a family must find Stella and discover what a loving pet she'd make. She's affectionate even with strangers and friendly with other dogs. She's easy to lead and eager to please. So, please come today and adopt Stella. You'd give her and yourself the happiest of faces.

Ruffin, a playful and affectionate young orange tabby, is in immense need of our HELP.

In July, �07 Ruffin has experienced a series of neurological problems manifesting in seizures, difficulty in gaining or keeping weight on, disorientation, confusion, drooling, and even temporary blindness. This has happened 5 times since then. But in the past Ruffin has managed to fight his way back to normalcy quite quickly. This time, however, Ruffin�s condition appears to be more severe than before. In fact, his health unexpectedly worsened.

While at the hospital, Ruffin stays under control of an experienced vet and animal neurologist. Both specialists have performed all kinds of tests on Ruffin; still, they have not been able to determine the triggers behind his condition. To make better diagnosis the vets recommend that we do an MRI scan. The cost of this procedure is approximately $2,000. Furthermore, we will need to transfer Ruffin to a different facility because the current place does not have such equipment.

As of today, the aggregated bill for Ruffin�s hospitalization has already exceeded a few thousands dollars. As you may imagine, this is a huge amount of money for our organization. Without your financial support we may not be able to help Ruffin.

Stray from the Heart found this gorgeous girl at the city shelter. The director of the shelter put out a rare personal plea for this loving, gentle 11 month old with the outstanding behavior evaluation. (Look at that face, she was hard to resist!) We have no idea where she came from but from the minute she entered her foster home, it was obvious she had been in a home before. Rayna is calm and respectful and will wait patiently snoozing on the couch until you get home. And when you do get home, you will receive a wonderful greeting of kisses and exposed belly for belly rubs. Rayna is crated trained and knows how to settle in for a nap but ready to go at a moments notice. She is a good, sweet, smart, obedient girl who does all her business outside.

We�re not sure of her exact breed but with her narrow snout and beautiful, small eyes she does indeed resemble a Greyhound, (especially when her ears are pointed backwards) her gorgeous pale coloring reminding us of a Pointer. What we do know is, she is stunning! People always comment on her good looks, so be prepared.

In the dog run, Rayna is the Belle of the Ball. She LOVES to play, play, play and can keep up with the best of them. In her play style she prefers to run around playing �tag-you�re-it � with other dogs rather than wrestle with them (just like a Greyhound). If a dog attempts to wrestle with her she will simply disengage and step to the side letting them know she�s not interested�.she�s such a diva.

When we first got her, she was quite the sassy girl. She was a little shy of strangers, once they were inside the home she would bark when she met them. But if she was ignored then she made friends quickly, it was as though she lacked trust in people she did not know. Each day her confidence builds in this area because we have been working on that!.....keep reading�.

Rayna has been the very lucky recipient of daily behavior modification practices with our trainer. He�s been taking her out and working with her 5 times a week polishing up her manners and obedience skills. She already knows the basic commands, she knows how to deal with �a pack setting� and she�s being socialized with strangers more and more (inside and outside the home) both being very positive experiences for her. Our trainer feels she is ready for her forever home where she will thrive if given correct guidance and perhaps a similar dog to pal around with.

Right now Rayna is about 60 pounds, so she could stand to lose a few pounds. She is healthy, up to date on her shots and already spayed. My sweet Westie was the love of my life. He's gone now but he was a Little Buddha who taught me many valuable life lessons that will always inspire me. He taught me that doggies/kitties want to be treated just like their human counterparts: With integrity, respect, lotsa love & kisses and an overarching focus to safety & security.

DOG Walks: I do half-hour walks with dogs that live between E. 23rd St. (including Stuy Town & Peter Cooper) to E. 14th St. with laser focus on safety & exercise and absolutely no electronic distractions in my ears (my pet peeve with many city walkers!). I don't do pack walking either.

DOG Board: My lovely Gramercy Park apt is a great alternative to your typical kennel-format dogggie hotel which, due to the high number of dogs they service, can't give the one-on-one personalized attention that is the birthright of our four-legged family members. I take impeccably well-mannered/socialized dogs for short/long stays with plenty of walks, games, belly kisses at much more reasonable rates thatn doggie hotels. SHORT NOTICE is okay if I'm available.

CAT Feed: I'll feed and play with your kitty and empty out the litter while you're away.
