He is highly intelligent and trainable, and although he loves treats, he responds just as well to praise. He still needs ongoing work to train him not to pull on the leash when outside, but it's mostly because he's excited to meet new dogs. He goes to the dog park twice a day and has become more and more socialized--he'll play with anyone! And although sometimes he likes to wrestle with and chase other dogs, he's not any degree of aggressive that would make a new owner nervous. If dogs are fighting, as sometimes dogs do, Prince generally runs around the outside watching and doesn't get involved. He just needs to know who's boss, and then he will be loyal and loving and keep your bed warm until you come get in it with him!
Prince is the rarest of pound dogs--one who is truly, completely housebroken and crate trained...although since he also doesn't chew or destroy things, his crate is currently folded up against the wall. He's totally amenable to showers, which he needs after all his dirty play in the park. He knows how to sit, lie down, and stay, and about half of how to fetch. Also, he is no longer scared of his own shadow and/or strangers. He greets new dogs and people on the street and gives a lot of kisses.
The one thing Prince is still waiting for is his appt to get neutered--and after the testosterone factor goes away, he may just be the perfect dog. Beautiful, fun, and a compact, sleek 55 pounds thanks to all the regular exercise he gets (and needs!) A fantastic dog to adopt this spring!
