Edwin Gould Academy is a private, not-for-profit, community-based, Multi-Service Center and Residence. EGA operates a dynamic social services program and 51 units of homeless housing for former foster care/juvenile justice placements on 110th street in East Harlem, NY. Edwin Gould Academy has a 19 year history of serving youth and young adults who have experienced out-of-home placement through the foster care/juvenile justice system.
The Bookkeeper/Office Manager position is a dynamic position comprised of three main components - accounting, office management, and executive assistance. Responsibilities include providing administrative and clerical support to the Executive Director in areas including finance, human resources, development, grant management, and research. Applicant must be able to demonstrate a mastery of QuickBooks for non-profits!
Accounting
Financial: manage all organization finances using QuickBooks for non-profits; create and submit a variety of QuickBooks monthly financial reports to the ED and Board; provide auditors with all financial reports and coordinate year-end audit; bank deposits and oversight of all banking matters; preparation and input of payroll and coordination of payroll with Paychex; disburse payroll and vendor checks; manage petty cash; maintain and monitor office procedures for purchasing and billing; and provide support for preparation and monitoring of budgets.
Office Management
Act as liaison between staff and our Human Resource provider.
Executive Assistant
Administrative: provide direct administrative assistance to Executive Director; attend all Board meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and provide general assistance to Board members as requested; maintain donor records and correspondence; support fundraising, foundation report writing, and proposal writing.
Willingness to demonstrate mastery of QuickBooks; minimum of five years in not-for-profit bookkeeping; strong planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; excellent writing and oral communication skills; demonstrated mastery of QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
The Bookkeeper/Office Manager will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.
