Job Purpose:

To monitor and analyze workers compensation legislation for State Relations Executives, Actuarial and Economic Services and Senior Staff Division. In addition, this position conducts statutory research in support of actuarial pricing and provides state governmental officials with information essential to making informed decisions pending legislation.

Major Duties:
Conduct multi-state legislative research projects on key Workers Compensation (WC) issues.
Write executive summaries of research results, distribute internally, and post on InfoZone.
Identify, track, and analyze WC related bills proposed in state legislative sessions. Develop and distribute Weekly Bill Tracking Reports noting such legislation and cumulative reports on InfoZone.
Research state-specific WC topics and legislation as requested by external parties (state legislators) and State Relations Executives.
Monitor insurance-related websites for "hot topics." Write monthly Research Briefs providing insider information in the world of WC insurance to NCCI employees.
Track and Report "Emerging WC Federal Trends" (e.g. Terrorism). All information will be collected and disseminated to employees and complied for future reference.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's degree with extensive expertise in statutory research and in-depth understanding of political/insurance system.
Advanced degree, concentration in legal or public policy preferred.
Must be skilled in legal research; ability to interpret statutory language; have working knowledge of legal concepts as they relate to WC insurance; good communicator; must be an excellent team-player; skilled in MS Word; strong research/writing skills.
