The 1010 is the most stable shoe weve ever tested. Its not a close contest. Overwhelming the wide-based 1010s large, unyielding foam and plastic medial post will require an act of Congress. Despite the shoes purposeful rigidity, wear-testers found it comfortable underfoot. Like New Balances two other 1000-level road shoes, the 1010 uses a high-quality midsole foam, the best supplemental cushioning pads, and a full-length foam base layer under the sockliner. Like the midsole, the upper is quite supportive. Surprisingly, some wear-testers found it to be a bit low in the midfoot, making the 1010 difficult for them to wear with thick orthotics.
