Summer Program - 2008 China Learning Tour
2008 HELLO XI’AN - Register now!!
Experience culture and Touch history. See ancient landscapes and Explore modern cities. Learn the language and culture with a combination of study and travel in China.
Dates: July 7 – July 28, 2008.
Program: Twenty-two days total. Ten days intensive study program at Nanjing University, including 40 hours of Chinese language classes; 20 hours of cultural workshops including the arts of Calligraphy, Go, Chinese Musical Instruments, and Kung Fu. Ten days of sightseeing in China, including Xi’an, Shanghai, Nanjing and Suzhou. Two days for international and domestic traveling.
Highlights: The ancient Chinese capital Xi’an; Terra Cotta Soldiers - the Eighth Wonder of the World; Shanghai - China’s most futuristic and largest metropolis; Suzhou - the city of the World Heritage Classical Chinese Gardens; Confucius Temple in Nanjing; the Treasure Ship of Zheng He’s Legendary Sea Voyages of 600 years ago; the amazing and wondrous Mt. Huashan.
Participants: Adults and youths who are interested in learning Chinese language, history, and culture, and want to enjoy exploring and sightseeing in China.
Fees: $2,550 total (includes tuition, accommodation, meals, travel & sightseeing in China. A very reasonable fee! International airfare not included.)

2008 Itinerary
Day 1 Flight from USA to Shanghai.
Day 2 Arrival at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport.
Shanghai Sightseeing: China’s largest and most futuristic metropolis.
Day 3 Visit the historic city of Suzhou, explore the Chinese Classical Gardens which reflect the profound metaphysical importance of natural beauty in Chinese culture. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive in Nanjing in the late afternoon.
Day 4 Nanjing University: Orientation, Classes Begin.
Day 5 Chinese Classes/Cultural Workshops: Students will have 4 hour intensive Chinese classes in the morning and cultural workshops in the afternoon. You can experience and enjoy the art of Chinese Calligraphy, the ancient chess game of Weiqi (Go), Chinese Musical Instruments, and Chinese folk songs. In addition, learn Chinese Kung Fu on selected days.
Day 6 Chinese Classes; Nanjing University Campus Tour & the Rabe House Museum
Day 7 Nanjing Sightseeing: Visit Confucius Temple, Ming Dynasty Capital Gate, and Treasure Ship
of Zheng He’s Legendary Sea Voyages 600 years ago.
Day 8 Chinese Classes, Cultural Workshop (Calligraphy/Musical Instruments/Go/Kung Fu/etc.)

Day 14 Wuxi Sightseeing: Walk into the romance of Three Kingdoms City, Enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Taihu.
Day 15 Chinese Classes, Nanjing University Classes End
Day 16 Depart Nanjing for Xi’an – the Ancient Capital of China
Day 17 Xi’an Sightseeing: Terra Cotta Soldiers (the Eighth Wonder of the World), Tang Dynasty Imperial Garden: Huaqingchi, Banpo Neolithic Village Museum
Day 18 Xi’an Sightseeing: Ming City Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
Shaanxi History Museum, The Big Wild-Goose Pagoda
Day 19 Visit Mt. Huashan: Take the tram up to the wondrous mountain. Stroll among its amazing peaks. A wonderful lifetime experience.
Day 20 Xi’an Sightseeing: Han Dynasty & Tang Dynasty Historical Sites, Tang Dynasty Style Performance
Day 21 Xi’an Shopping; Farewell Party
Day 22 Flight back to U.S., End of program.
