The Web division of a major NYC media company is looking for two contractors with 5-10 years of development experience to build user-facing, rich media interactive websites. This project requires a 4-6 month commitment and has the potential to become full time employment. This is an immediate hire position. Candidates must be able to physically work in NYC for this project. For the front end developer position, serious candidates must have a demonstrable understanding of Web platform coding standards and cross-browser development expertise. For the Java Enterprise developer position serious candidates must have a strong understanding of J2EE technologies and significant experience with dynamic scripting languages and Rich Internet Applications.
Required Qualifications for front end developer position:
• Expert knowledge and solid working experience designing efficient, cross-browser user-facing websites. Solid experience in the different support levels of IE 6, 7, 8, Firefox and Safari.
• Expert knowledge of CSS, XHTML, HTML, DOM, JavaScript & AJAX concepts.
• Good working knowledge of RSS / JSON / REST principles.
• Advanced JavaScript knowledge with jQuery or other JS toolkits: Prototype or Dojo.
• Working knowledge of Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience with JSP, JSTL, layout and decoration frameworks that integrate with Java frameworks such as Tiles and SiteMesh is a plus.
• Experience with SEO, Ad Serving, Social Networking interfaces, Google Maps is strongly desired.
• Experience with Dynamic Scripting languages, such as PHP, Perl, Ruby.
• Experience with IDE (Eclipse, DW), version control (SVN, CVS) and Debugging tools (Firebug)
• Comfortable working in a UNIX/Linux environment
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field. Will consider equivalent web development experience
Required Qualifications for the java enterprise developer position:
• Solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
• Expert working knowledge of JSP, Servlets, Custom Tags, JDBC, XML/XSL, SiteMesh
• Extensive knowledge of Java EE frameworks including Spring, Hibernate
• Experience working with Application Servers; WebSphere, Resin, Tomcat.
• Solid SQL database experience and ORM technologies such as Hibernate.
• Experience with Dynamic Scripting languages; PHP, Perl, Groovy, Python
• Working knowledge of Java Web Service libraries; Axis, Xfire, SOAP UDDI
• Expertise in advanced HTTP, HTML, XML, RSS, JavaScript & Ajax concepts
• Experience integrating Content Management Systems
• Working knowledge in Eclipse, Subversion, Maven, JUnit
• Experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field. Will consider equivalent software development experience
