The Research Animal Resource Center promotes the thoughtful and humane use of animals in research and teaching toward the goal of continued advancement in the field of human and animal health. It provides the highest quality of husbandry and health care for animals used in research and teaching; serves as a resource to investigative staff by providing professional services facilitating the humane use of animals, while providing institutional and public assurance that policies and regulations set forth by federal, state and local governments regarding the conduct of animal research are upheld.
In this position you will assist the Manager with day-to-day operations of the multi-site animal facilities. The scope of this position includes fiscal management, operational leadership and responsibility for staff supervision and development. Key responsibilities also include quality control and assessment, and operational process oversight including but not limited to shipping & receiving, equipment operations, animal enrichment programs. Provide coverage for the Manager, Husbandry & Operations as needed. Assist in the preparation of documents required by the USDA, NYS Department of Health, NIH and the AAALAC-Int'l.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in a related discipline
A minimum of 4 years management experience.
LATG or CMAR certification required.
Proven experience in operation of large animal resource facility, personnel management, facilities operation and fiscal management.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills.
