Artists are being asked to interpret parts of the manuscript in the tradition of the art of the late 60s and early 70s. Think pop culture, psychedelia, mixed media and today's truth movement. Although I am not a fine artist, I will do my best throughout the process to communicate my vision so that your work can best be represented within the larger scope of the book.
Last summer, no one could escape the excitement around the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, and the second wave is coming in the summer of 2009 for 40th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Fair. Since I am unable to offer payment for your submission (I have to obtain sponsorship, so there is no advance paid to me for doing the book), I am asking artists to create as little as one piece to be able to have the chance of showcasing your work in what should be a widely distributed, highly publicized book. Your work is yours to keep and/or sell once it is properly scanned, if need be. You will receive a free copy of the book and a hefty discount on additional copies.
This book will be highly publicized. We will be cross promoting the book with Warner Brothers, who will be re-releasing the Home Video/DVD of the Woodstock Movie, and will have other alliances with companies like Fender Guitar, etc.
